Chapter 40: SHUT UP, BITCH!

Ace was not surprised when he saw the head of the elder roll on the floor after his stupid explanation. He was only old, but he couldn’t read the room.

How could you talk about mercy in front of the Lycan king, whose mate you had tortured for years and left so many issues to deal with?

"You said you were not going to kill," Ace reminded Zade, who stared at the decapitated head with a derisive smirk.

"Did I say that?"

"You did."

"Must have slipped my mind," Zade replied lightly and then walked toward the other two elders, who were trembling in fear.

"Have mercy, King Zade! We didn’t know she was your mate!" One of the elders bowed down, followed by the other one.

"We didn’t know she was your mate! She used to be the Alpha’s mate before she lost her wolf spirit!"

"Lost?" Zade raised his brows. Seara was poisoned, which caused her wolf spirit to die. It seemed the people in this pack loved to rewrite the facts and took them based on their own perspectives. "Fetch me the three women who had poisoned my mate."

Daven and Rexton immediately begged for mercy. They couldn’t bear to watch what the Lycan was going to do to them.

Eudora was Rexton’s twin sister and also the luna of the pack, while Enid was Daven’s younger sister. If the Lycan killed the elder for locking Seara up, what was he going to do when he already knew the three women were the ones who were responsible for the death of Seara’s wolf spirit?

On the other hand, Silas said nothing, even though he knew Brigid was involved in this and would also face the same harsh punishment from the Lycan.

"Ace, get them here," Zade said as he sat down again on the leather seat, watching all of them with malice and murderous intent.

These were the people who had tortured his mate for so many years and left her with a broken soul. He was going to break them, too. Slowly...

"No, you can’t have him on the bed. You can’t sleep with him." Zephyr then backed off when Reaper snarled at him. "Hey! Why are you so rude?!"

"Don’t; he is nice," Seara reprimanded Reaper, and the wolf immediately backed off, acting docile. "See? He is nice."

"Don’t use the same words to describe the wolf and me." Zephyr was not happy. He crossed his arms and was thinking of calling Jane to talk some sense into Seara, since he couldn’t coax her to let the wolf sleep outside. "Hmm? Is that Zade’s jacket that you are wearing?"

"Yes." Seara tightened the jacket around her. The jacket was too big for her body, and even the sleeves were so long that they completely covered her arms.

Currently, both of them were at the dining table, enjoying their dinner, while Reaper was eating the sausage that Seara generously gave to him.

"Hey, tell me. Why are you so afraid of Ace?" Zephyr wondered about this fact, since Seara didn’t have the same problem with him, though they had only met a handful of times.

And because Zephyr had to be away in the beginning, they didn’t even meet until a few days ago. But thankfully, by that time, Seara was already getting better. She was not as nervous with new people as she used to be.

Yet, still, she was scared of Ace.

"He is a bad guy," Seara said. She lowered her head and stirred her soup. "He is a bad guy."

"How is he a bad guy?" Zephyr couldn’t help but ask. From what he learned, Ace asked some questions when she was in the hospital, which was the first interaction between them, but ever since then, Seara would be nervous when he was around. "Did he ever hurt you?"

"He..." Seara lowered her head even more, and she wriggled her leg uncomfortably. "He pinned me down... He pinned Sybill down. He slapped her and said... Bitch! Bitch, shut up! Shut up!"

Suddenly, Seara raised her voice; she was screaming while repeating the words over and over again, which startled Zephyr.

Reaper barked at Zephyr as well and growled viciously, and the royal gamma was ready to jump from his seat, just in case the wolf was planning to attack him.

Damn. Why didn’t Zade order him to kill the wolf instead, since he was a threat to his mate?

It would be easier for Zephyr to do.

"Okay, okay..." Zephyr said hastily; he was panicked when Seara suddenly screamed and rocked her body back and forth harder; she clenched and unclenched her fists on top of the table while mumbling something incoherently. "Seara, it’s okay... I will not ask again."

Meanwhile, Reaper was still barking at him. The way the wolf looked at him was as if he judged Zephyr’s morals for asking such a question.

Damn this wolf.

But at the same time, Zephyr was sure Seara had mistaken Ace for someone else. Ace had never been in the Blackthorne Pack, and they had never met before Zade found her in that secret cell.

Moreover, there was no one named Sybill...

Zephyr had asked Brigid about it, but the only Sybill in that pack was a baby that was born a year ago. Sybill was not a common name for the pack members.

And from what Zephyr learned, too, aside from Seara, there was no one else who had entered the cell. Brigid was very sure about that, because Eudora would have gotten a word about it if there had been someone thrown into the same cell as Seara.

In that case, who was Sybill? Aside from Seara, it seemed that no one knew anyone with that name.

"I am full," Seara suddenly said. She acted normally, as if her breakdown earlier had never happened. "But I don’t want to waste my food." Seara looked at her plate, conflicted.

"Give it to me; I will finish it for you." Zephyr would do anything to make her feel better at this point.
