Chapter 38: CAN WE HAVE IT?
Zade just cut off Daven’s thumb after he admitted that he was the one who had cheated on Seara and didn’t do anything when the elders of the pack sentenced her to be locked inside the cell at the outskirts of the pack.
Great.
"Call the elders," Zade said in his terrifyingly calm voice. Blood splattered on the floor, while Silas and Rexton witnessed everything but were unable to do anything.
Daven was hugging his hand; he had lost his thumb on both hands, and those parts of his hand were lying a few centimeters away from him.
Even though as shifters they had a great healing ability, it didn’t allow them to grow their limbs back; it was impossible.
Therefore, Daven lost his thumbs for good. But that was not only his problem, since his left leg was twisted at a different angle.
With his healing ability, he would be healed in a few hours, but if he didn’t get his leg corrected before he completely healed, he would be disabled.
Rexton then went to fetch the elders of the pack when Zade’s phone rang, and he knew right away it was Seara, since he had set a different ringtone for her.
"Shut up," Zade said, but Daven took a few seconds longer to be quiet so Zade could pick up his phone. "What dog, Seara?" His voice tightened when he heard the excited voice of his mate on the phone.
This must be the first time Zade heard her genuinely happy, and he was not there to witness it. However, his attention was fixed on the fact that there was a dog inside the house, and when Seara described the dog, his eyes darkened, and he became tense.
There were no dogs in his residence, but there were wolves. Seara must have mistaken both of them. Additionally, from the characteristics that Seara had described, Zade immediately knew which wolf was inside the house.
It must be Reaper.
Who had let out this wolf?
Wolves were naturally untamable, but as shifters, they could control them. Most of the people in the residence preferred wolves as their ’pets.’
Additionally, Zade owned a large piece of land at his residence, which was spacious enough for a pack of wolves to live freely.
Reaper was... the alpha of the wolves in that area.
No one could tame that wolf, and most of the time, the other pack members would avoid it because of how ferocious it was.
It was only Zade who could control it.
Most of the time, Reaper would stay hidden; it didn’t get closer to the main residence or the bungalow where Seara lived, and the warriors, who patrolled around the area, rarely saw it.
However, Reaper wouldn’t hesitate to attack when it saw an unfamiliar figure around the residence. For that reason, it was so rare for Zade to have new people stay in the residence; even the warriors and the omegas would be the same, or else Reaper would attack them.
"Stay away from the dog, Seara. Do it slowly." Zade tensed up. He didn’t have time to explain that it was not a dog but a wolf, as he mind linked Ace to contact Zephyr and inform him that Reaper was inside the house.
Where the hell was Zephyr? He was supposed to stay around the house. Even though the residence was safe, having an additional layer of protection would help Zade feel more at ease when he was not with Seara.
"Why? It is so cute," Seara said; there was no sense of danger in her voice. "I want it. Can I have it?"
"Yes, you can have it, but for now, stay away from it, okay?" Zade felt his veins were going to pop. He also heard Ace talk rapidly to Zephyr and curse at the royal gamma.
From the sound of it, Zephyr apparently had to leave for a while because Jeremy needed him, but now he rushed to the bungalow from the main building.
"He will be right there in a minute," Ace said, cutting off the line.
Zade swore he was going to strangle Zephyr to death and kill that wolf if Seara was injured. However, the sound of her voice from the phone didn’t indicate any danger whatsoever.
"Stay away from it, Love." Zade was trying to keep his voice calm.
"Uhm. It doesn’t want to leave me alone. It wants the sausage again. I am giving it to it." Seara giggled as she reported to Zade what the black wolf was doing. "It shows its belly. It is soft."
"Seara... are you sure it is a black dog?"
"Yes. All of its fur is black."
There was only one black wolf, and it was Reaper, but it didn’t sound like that wolf at all.
"Put me on the video call, Seara." A second later, Zade first saw Seara’s hazel eyes and then her long, curly, auburn hair. He wished he could run his fingers through its strands.
"This... It is so cute, right?" Seara giggled. She smiled widely, and Zade really wanted to see her directly instead of through the phone camera. "Good dog, good dog."
On the screen, Zade watched as Reaper indeed showed its belly to Seara, wiggling its tail while eating the sausage.
Ace moved closer; he was curious to see whether the black dog that Seara mentioned was Reaper or not, and when he saw it, the royal beta was stunned speechless.
"How could that be possible?" He blinked his eyes in confusion. "Do we have another black wolf?" He already knew the answer. They didn’t.
What baffled Ace was that Reaper had bitten him twice when he was too close to its territory. The only person in that residence who could control the wolf was Zade; even so... Reaper wouldn’t voluntarily show its belly to the Lycan king.
"Can we take care of it? Can we have it? I like it..." Seara asked excitedly as she rubbed Reaper’s belly.
Meanwhile, Ace shook his head. "That wolf has lost its dignity."
