Chapter 33: THE TRUTH IS OUT
"Zade, enough, you are going to kill me... Stop... Ugh." Zephyr was down on all fours, as he was unable to stand up because of the pressure that Zade inflicted on him.
As the king of the Lycans, he was able to do that because his dominance was way stronger than his gamma.
"Zade... I am going to die..." Zephyr was being overly dramatic now. It was indeed uncomfortable, but he was not going to die because of it.
And finally, Zade showed mercy to him.
Zade had to drag Zephyr out of the house when he was about to enter the bedroom. He was so close to opening the door before Zade beat him to it, and he took Zephyr to the garden after he told Seara that he would be back soon.
"What have you gotten?" Zade asked without preamble. It was better to be something important, or else Zade would be pissed off to be interrupted.
"She was adopted. She was adopted when she was a baby twenty-one years ago, and she was poisoned; that’s why she lost her wolf spirit and about the cheating..."
The royal gamma spilled everything out quickly because he was scared by the look on Zade’s face. Zade’s expression was... terrifying to say the least, as if the Lycan king might drink his blood right from his head.
He wondered what he had done so wrong. He was so excited to deliver the information that he had gathered.
Zephyr had also told Zade that the cheating story was not true. It was the other way around, and the Luna had been spreading false rumors on purpose because she had expected Zade to send someone to investigate further about Seara.
But she hadn’t expected a second visit to dig deeper into the initial information.
Brigid literally didn’t hold back as she vented everything to Zephyr, especially since she had fallen out with Enid and Eudora.
"I think most of the parts are true, but there are some exaggerated parts. I am not sure about the part that she had been seeking men’s attention desperately when she was young, because there was also a part of the story that Brigid told me, where Seara had to stay at home all the time and was not allowed to go out, aside from going to school."
Zephyr shrugged his shoulders. He then told Zade that Daven and his beta and gamma had been in contact with the Ravencourt Kingdom.
The Ravencourt Kingdom was another territory of a Lycan, and the Blackthorne Pack had been under their alliance, though the business relationship was not vital, since there was nothing much that such a small pack could offer.
However...
Many years ago, the Ironclad Pack was also allied with the Ravencourt Kingdom, and Zade had wiped them out, so needless to say, the relationship between the two kingdoms was currently quite tense.
Though it would give no benefit to them for interfering with the matter between Zade and the Blackthorne Pack, they might protect the pack out of spite, since it would be rather humiliating if what happened a hundred years ago repeated itself.
"Well, in conclusion, she is the black sheep." Zephyr ended the report after he had his monologue for half an hour. "What are you going to do now?" He was sitting on the ground, too tired to stand up after the pressure, while Zade was standing in front of him.
Zade didn’t answer him right away, and the silence hung in the air, adding to the pressure Zephyr felt. "They locked her up for three years after poisoning her, which caused her to lose the wolf spirit, and they called it bad luck?"
Zephyr scratched his head. "Yes. Now that I think about it again, that’s fucked up..." The gamma suddenly crawled back to put a distance between him and Zade when he saw the Lycan king smirk, as if he were elated, but his electric blue eyes dimmed. "Zade, whatever you are thinking right now... don’t. You can’t have a killing spree again."
The light of the sun was scorching hot, but Zephyr felt a chill run down his spine when he saw menace in Zade’s eyes.
"Zade...?" Zephyr tried to mind-link the warriors around the residence to look for Ace, just in case Zade was trying anything funny, but the warriors told him that the royal beta had gone to Arcnard City to take Chloe back. Damn it.
However, both of them noticed her presence almost at the same time, and they turned their heads to where Seara was coming.
She stopped in her tracks when she saw Zephyr, but unlike Ace, she didn’t show distress with the royal gamma around.
And with a hasty step, she approached Zade and stood next to him. "You are not going to kill him, right?" She asked in a small voice, but it was enough for Zephyr to hear that.
The menacing look on Zade’s face disappeared almost immediately when he saw his mate, and now his face softened.
In his frustration, Zade had hissed that he was going to kill Zephyr for the interruption, and Seara was a little bit scared. She didn’t want Zephyr to be killed. She knew him; he was there that night in his wolf form.
"No, I will not." Zade put his arm around her waist. "Let’s go inside; you have not yet eaten anything."
And with that, Zade took Seara into the house again, leaving Zephyr alone, as the royal gamma was still sitting on the ground.
"Wait." Zephyr frowned. "Were you planning to kill me earlier?" He was in disbelief. "What exactly were you doing until the interruption granted me a death row?"
He pushed himself from the ground, but he followed Zade and Seara into the house. He had not yet eaten anything either.
Yet, Zephyr stopped for a while to see the color of the house and frowned.
"I don’t recall there being anything with bright colors in this residence."
