Chapter 31: NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE ME AWAY

"So, she did bite," Chloe said as she poked her head into the room, where Rio was checking Seara’s condition.

"Get out from here, Chloe, or I will send you back to Arcnard in a box," Zade snapped at Chloe, who immediately closed the door. "Send her back; make sure she stays there." Zade looked at Ace.

"Got it," Ace said as he walked out of the room and found Chloe trying to eavesdrop on the conversation inside. "Are you looking for death?"

"What happened with her?" Chloe asked noisily. She looked interested in knowing about the woman, who turned out to be Zade’s destined mate.

"That’s none of your business," Ace replied curtly. He grabbed Chloe by the arm and escorted her out. Somehow, she found a way to sneak into the bungalow again.

"Is she not right in the head?" Chloe asked again; her curiosity got the best of her.

"Don’t say that in front of Zade; you are going to test his patience."

"I have lost count of how many times he lost his patience with me, but here I am, still alive."

"Don’t push your luck."

"You don’t need to grab me like this. I can go home on my own." Chloe pushed Ace away and freed her arm.

"It’s the king’s order: I am going to send you back."

"Oh, please... Your Lycan king is so dramatic." Chloe rolled her eyes. "Can I take that as Zade still cares about me? He is actually worried something will happen to me on the way back?"

"You can take that as Zade wants to be sure that you will not go back."

Meanwhile, inside the room, Rio was checking on Seara’s condition. She was exhausted from fighting Zade and fell asleep.

Her arm was indeed broken, though Zade had tried not to hurt her; yet, it was unavoidable. Fortunately, there was nothing to worry about. The thing was, if it kept going on, it wouldn’t only bring harm to her but to Zade as well.

"You can’t take care of her on your own, Zade," Rio said in a calm voice after he was done checking on Seara and saw the bite mark on Zade. "Why doesn’t it heal?"

Rio had previously checked the bite mark on Zade’s wrist as well. He found it strange that it didn’t heal. As a Lycan, Zade’s healing ability should be better than that of a shifter. He didn’t have any scars, even from Seara’s scratch on his face.

However, this bite mark wouldn’t heal.

"Don’t," Zade said. He retracted his hand when Rio took an ointment from his bag to fix the scar. "Let it be."

Rio wanted to say otherwise, but then he decided to talk about another important matter that Zade needed to address.

"Zade, you don’t help her this way. This situation is beyond me. I can fix the wounds on her body, but I don’t have any idea how to deal with the wound in her mind. And just like any other wound, if you just let it be, sometimes it wouldn’t heal; it would fester."

Rio tried to make Zade reconsider his decision to take Seara to the psychiatric ward.

"What is the name?"

"What?" Rio blinked his eyes, but then he immediately realized what Zade actually wanted to know. "Her name is Jane. She will..."

"Which pack does she belong to?"

"The River Moon Pack—that’s one of your alliances, right?"

The River Moon Pack was indeed Zade’s alliance, but he didn’t feel it was the right decision to send Seara to a psychiatric ward; yet at the same time, Rio was right: it was beyond him.

"Let her come here." Zade crossed his arms. He still didn’t want to send Seara away, but he would tolerate having Jane here.

Rio took a deep breath. Zade still refused to take Seara to the psychiatric ward, but at the very least, he was open to another method.

The first thing that Seara felt when she woke up was the pain in her right wrist. She opened her eyes and found it was bandaged tightly, and then she saw Zade was staring at her, lying down next to her.

"How are you feeling?" Zade asked in his gentle voice.

Seara remembered what happened and how she had harmed him, and the discomfort returned, especially when she recalled the woman named Chloe. She was beautiful...

Slowly, Seara raised her hand, and with the tips of her fingers, she traced Zade’s face. The wound from her scratch had healed. She also recalled the blood trickling down his cheek.

Meanwhile, Zade breathed deeply. He closed his eyes and savored his mate’s touch. He didn’t sleep the whole night, and after Rio left last night, he had been lying down in the same position for hours, simply staring at Seara’s sleeping face.

"I am sorry," Seara said in a hoarse voice. "I hurt you."

"You are not." Zade took her hand and kissed her knuckles, the back of her hand, and her palm. "You didn’t hurt me. But tell me why you were so angry?" Zade opened his eyes and then found Seara’s hazel eyes staring at him.

The color on her cheek had returned, and she was blushing now. The light of the sun that filtered through the window made her glow.

Seara bit her lip, and Zade impulsively thought about biting it as well.

"Because she wanted to take you..." Seara replied in her hoarse voice; she lowered her head and looked ashamed by her answer or by feeling that way. "I don’t want you to be taken away."

However, hearing the answer only made Zade chuckle. It was so rare for him to laugh without sarcasm, but at this moment, he was pleased with her answer.

"No one will be able to take me away from you, Seara." He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Your concern should be that I will be with you for the rest of your life. You have marked me. I am not going anywhere."
