Chapter 28: CLOSE ALLIANCES WITH THE LYCAN

Seara woke up and found Zade sitting on the chair next to her bed; he was holding a notebook with a cat drawing on it.

"You can draw?" Zade asked when he sensed Seara was awake. Last night, he returned and found her sleeping on the sofa, holding the notebook with the cat drawing on it.

"That’s not me." Seara was calm now. There was no trace of her erratic behavior last night, and she probably had forgotten about it, too.

"Not you?" Zade raised his brows. "Who drew this then?"

Hearing the question, Seara’s eyes lit up; she then mentioned the sweet nurse that she met last night. "She taught me how to draw a cat. Let me show you..."

Seara was happy; she looked normal as she showed Zade how to draw a cat just like the nurse taught her.

"Isn’t this cute?"

Zade was slightly taken aback because Seara talked a lot. She didn’t stutter, she didn’t lower her head, and she held a conversation perfectly.

Earlier, he had a long conversation with Rio about letting Seara stay in the psychiatric ward, but now, he didn’t think it was necessary.

"It’s cute." Zade caressed Seara’s cheek and let her ramble some more about the kind nurse that she met last night. "What is her name?"

"Sheena," Seara replied. "She says her name is Sheena."

"Why do you care about her?" Brigid asked, furrowing her brows, as she watched Zephyr put on his clothes and pants. His naked body made her salivate.

She met this man less than three weeks ago, and they had been together ever since. It was not in the romantic way, of course. Both of them knew there was no tie between them.

But heaven, Brigid would love to let him mark her...

"Only curious," Zephyr said as he zipped his pants. "Family drama is fun. Moreover, why did your family adopt her if they didn’t want her?"

Brigid shrugged her shoulders, and she lay down on her stomach lazily. "I don’t know. I remember one day my parents brought home a baby. I don’t remember clearly because I was only five at that time."

"When was it?"

"Twenty-one years ago."

Zephyr already knew Seara’s birthdate and how long she had been kept in the cell, but he just learned that she was adopted twenty-one years ago, when she was a baby...

Twenty-one years ago...

Zephyr frowned.

"What pack are you from?" Brigid tilted her head as she glanced at Zephyr over her shoulder, giving him a coquettish look.

"I am a rogue. I don’t have a pack." Zephyr had told her about this a few times already, but Brigid didn’t believe him.

"Why don’t you stay in this pack? We are a match for each other, and I can give you a status. You can be part of the gamma family. My brother is the gamma of the pack."

Zephyr grinned from ear to ear. He was a gamma already. "Thank you, but I love my freedom."

"What? You don’t think of settling down?" Brigid then teased him. "What if I get pregnant?"

Hearing that, Zephyr laughed. "It will be wonderful if you do."

The birth rate for a Lycan was close to zero in the past decades. It was extremely rare for a Lycan to have a baby because most of the time, they mated with werewolves, as a woman with pure Lycan blood was nearly nonexistent. Moreover, even when the she-wolf gave birth to a Lycan baby, it would mostly be a boy.

When the werewolf preferred a boy as a blessing, the Lycan saw a baby girl as a miracle. Right now, you could only count on one hand the pure-blooded Lycans.

Even Zephyr was not a pureblood.

"Oh, in that case, why don’t you stay, and we will make sure of it?"

But before Brigid could tempt him with more offers, she heard the sound of a cracking door from the first floor.

"Oh, shit. My brother is here. You have to leave." Brigid urged Zephyr.

However, the royal gamma had climbed through the window. He didn’t have any intention of getting caught; moreover, he had known Silas was heading home before he entered the house. He had been familiar with his scent ever since that night.

"See ya!" Zephyr then jumped out of the window and landed perfectly fine before he disappeared into the nearby building.

Today, Seara was discharged, and Zade would take her back home. It would be another challenge to introduce her to a new place, and she had been anxious ever since they got into the car.

"Where are we going? Where... are we going?" Seara picked at her cuticle nervously as she saw high buildings towering on both sides of the streets.

Even before what happened to her, she had never left the pack, and as a small pack like the Blackthorne Pack, they didn’t have skyscrapers.

Let alone Seara, people from the Blackthorne Pack who had never left their territory would feel overwhelmed to be in the central business district of this country.

Wvern City was the second-largest city. Although it was not the capital city, it served as a financial hub and cultural powerhouse, hosting numerous multinational companies.

Seara pressed her body against Zade, and she pulled down her hoodie to cover the sight. It was overwhelming, and she didn’t want to have a breakdown here.

"We are going home." Zade wrapped his arm around Seara and held her hand to give her a sense of steadiness.

It took around two hours to reach Zade’s residence.

As there were not many Lycans in this realm, they collaborated with the largest werewolf packs around, building them into powerful packs, and in return, they pledged their loyalty to the Lycans.

Currently, Zade had collaborated with twenty-three packs, but only three of them were what he deemed close alliances. The security around his residence, as well as his beta and gamma, came from those packs.
