Chapter 11: MISFORTUNE FOR THE PACK

"What?"

And then the truth poured out.

Seara couldn’t believe what she had just heard.

Daven told her that the liquid his sister forced her to drink was meant to weaken her wolf, but unfortunately, because of what Seara had been going through at that time, her wolf had already become very weak to begin with.

Therefore, her wolf died instead.

What Enid had done to her sealed the deal. Seara lost her wolf forever.

The healer had confirmed that.

"It was a mistake." Daven tried to appease Seara.

It pained him to see her right now. She was in so much shock, as if she had gone through four stages of grief within a few seconds.

"Enid didn’t mean to do that to you."

Mistake.

His favorite word.

The word triggered Seara.

"All of this is only a mistake in your eyes?" She narrowed her eyes dangerously at him. How could he be so foolish as to readily accept that everything was merely a mistake? "You cheated on me, and now I have lost my wolf forever, and you call those mistakes?!"

Seara pushed Daven away from her; the sight of him disgusted her so much. She didn’t believe it, but after she tried to sense her wolf, she couldn’t deny the harsh truth.

Her wolf was no longer there. Her wolf died because of ’the mistake’ his sister had made.

Seara didn’t even care about the fact that Daven had introduced Eudora as the future luna of the pack. That information passed through her head. Losing her wolf was way more devastating for her.

The title didn’t mean anything to her right now. After all, Seara didn’t want to be his mate anymore the moment she saw him together with Eudora.

"Calm down, Seara," Daven said helplessly. "Enid, Brigid, and Eudora regretted it. They apologized to you."

"Regret?" Seara scoffed. She was a hundred percent sure they didn’t regret it at all. "What punishment for them?"

"They have apologized, and we tried to find a healer to revive your wolf spirit."

"Apologized? You let them go free with only an apology?!"

"I have scolded them. What else should I do?" Daven doted on Enid so much to the point of stupidity because she was the only blood family he had.

That was the final straw for Seara. She could no longer take it. The harsh truth sent another wave of pain through her body, but she steeled her heart.

"I, Seara Easton Thorne, reject you, Daven Blackthorn, as my mate! May our bond sever for good!" It was the only way to hurt him: to make him feel her pain.

This time, Daven couldn’t stop her in time, but there was no need for that. He saw it coming. Seara had tried this before; she would definitely do it again.

Seara waited for the pain to come because of the broken bond, yet it didn’t. She didn’t feel any pain at all, and neither did Daven.

"Seara, you lost your wolf spirit. Your rejection will not work." Daven explained to her, reminding her that she was no longer a she-wolf.

Hearing this, Seara lost it. She had lost so many things, but losing her wolf was the worst of all, especially the audacity of Daven when he tried to compromise with her situation.

Seara saw red. Her anger fueled her with enough strength to push him away and scream in his face.

"Get out! GET OUT! LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Daven watched how Seara’s world was crumbling, and he only stood there. He did nothing, and finally, after he realized there was no way he could talk to her, he left the room.

"We will talk again once you calm down. We will discuss this later, okay?" His words were as soft as ever.

Seara didn’t even want to see his face, let alone talk to him again.

However, the worst had not yet come, because the next day, the council of elders came to her room to tell her that she needed to be locked away.

"Losing your wolf spirit is an ominous sign. It is bad luck for the pack. In the past, the person should be killed to appease the anger of the Moon Goddess, but Alpha Daven is kind, so instead of killing you, you will be locked away at the border of the pack and serve your time to repent for your misfortune."

Seara pressed her lips against the injustice that she received. "I didn’t lose my wolf spirit because I am cursed. I lost it because I am poisoned! Enid and the other two should be the ones who are locked away, not me!"

Seara felt the anger rip through her heart. She got off the bed, and the world was spinning. She was too weak to stand, and she hated herself for being so weak.

"The decision has been made."

"Guards!" One of the council of elders commanded the warriors to drag Seara away to the border, where she would be locked up.

"Kill me! Kill me!" Seara screamed desperately.

There was no point in her being alive when she had to be locked away for the rest of her life. Death would be kinder to her.

"Kill me!"

Rain was pouring down outside as the night sky looked even gloomier with thunder and lightning splitting the sky.

Meanwhile, inside the car, Ace and Zephyr were having a heated argument.

"I told you to turn left." Ace glared at Zephyr, who was driving the car. "You drive me insane."

"The map said I have to turn right." Zephyr threw him a look as well.

The argument would have lasted longer than that if it were not for the man who was sitting in the backseat, who told them to stop.

"Stop the car," Zade said in his deep voice. His electric blue eyes stared at the distance, as if he could see through the mist of the rain.

"Why?" Zephyr asked out of curiosity.

However, before the car could stop properly, Zade had opened the door and walked out.

"Damn it, Zade!"
