Chapter 36: Chapter 34: Good Thing I Kept a Trick Up My Sleeve

The three of them arrived at the main building of the art school.

Yunqing led them to a classroom at the end of a first-floor hallway, navigating the building as if she owned the place.

"Here we are." She took out a key and opened the door. The faint, indescribable smell of old, cluttered things wafted out. "The new rehearsal room is on the third floor. We have to move everything up."

The classroom wasn’t large. A few electric guitars and a bass leaned against the wall. Several amps and a drum kit were piled in a corner, along with a half-human-height metal locker that looked like it had seen better days.

"It’s not too much to move," Yunqing said, clapping her hands and starting to delegate. "Mainly these instruments, a few microphones, and the stuff in that locker."

As she spoke, she and Shen Yan got to work, starting to pull things out of the locker.

It was stuffed full of various music scores, records of the band’s past activities, and other miscellaneous odds and ends.

Yunqing and Shen Yan took charge of moving these smaller items in several trips, also taking the lighter equipment like the keyboard and microphone stands.

As for the rest—like the dead-heavy amps and the drum kit that was too much of a hassle to even take apart—Chen Lin simply waved his hand and took care of it all himself.

He carried a large amp in each hand, running up and down the stairs as if he were flying, leaving the two girls staring dumbfounded.

During a break from moving, Chen Lin noticed a box truck parked in the open space downstairs. The side of the truck read "XX Stage Equipment," but there wasn’t a soul in sight.

Yunqing followed his gaze and explained casually, "Oh, they’re probably delivering equipment for the fourth-floor performance hall. I heard they’re replacing some of the sound systems."

The words had barely left her mouth when Chen Lin’s ears caught a snippet of muffled conversation coming from the stairwell.

"...Old Ding, are you gonna be okay? Maybe we should call it a day and move the rest tomorrow," a younger-sounding voice said.

"I’m fine... COUGH, COUGH... If we finish today, we can take another job tomorrow. The family needs the money," another voice replied, sounding weak and exhausted.

Chen Lin’s brow furrowed. ’Sounds like movers. And from that conversation, one of them isn’t in great shape.’

But he didn’t dwell on it. They were just passing strangers, after all.

The trio’s move went exceptionally smoothly. With Chen Lin acting as their superhuman laborer, their efficiency was through the roof. In less than half an hour, the only thing left in the old classroom was the empty metal locker.

"Alright, just this last big guy left," Yunqing said, wiping a thin sheen of sweat from her forehead. "Let’s carry it together. The three of us should be able to manage."

Shen Yan nodded in agreement, thinking it was the safest option.

But Chen Lin shook his head.

He walked over to the locker, sizing up its dimensions and weight. It was large, but it was just an empty metal cabinet. For him, it was nothing.

"No need," he said confidently. "It’ll be more awkward for three people to get a good grip. Besides, the stairwell isn’t very wide, so it’d be dangerous for three of us to navigate the stairs with it. I can handle it myself."

"You, by yourself?" Yunqing and Shen Yan asked in unison, their voices filled with doubt.

The locker wasn’t excessively heavy, but it was so bulky that it would be hard for one person to exert any force, let alone control its center of gravity.

The next second, however, their jaws dropped in astonishment.

Chen Lin performed a perfect squat, secured his hands firmly under the locker’s base, and engaged his back and core. Just like that, the metal cabinet, wider than he was, was lifted clean off the ground. He held it steadily in front of him.

"..."

"..."

The two women were utterly shocked. Watching his casual, effortless display, it was as if he were holding a styrofoam box, not a metal locker.

Chen Lin, still holding the locker, turned around with ease and flashed them a smile. "What are you staring at? Let’s go."

A few minutes later, everything had been moved into the new rehearsal room on the third floor.

Yunqing looked at the neatly arranged equipment, then at Chen Lin, who wasn’t even breathing hard. Her mood lifted, and she couldn’t help but tease him. "I knew you were in good shape, but I didn’t realize you were this strong. Looks like treating you to that meal really paid off!"

Once everything was sorted, the three of them prepared to head downstairs and go their separate ways.

Just as they reached the first-floor lobby, they saw two men in work uniforms carrying a massive speaker, easily over a meter tall. They were struggling up the stairs, panting with every step.

Chen Lin glanced at them and noticed that one of the workers was pale, his forehead covered in a cold sweat. His steps were clearly unsteady.

"Sir, be careful!" the younger worker warned.

’Tough work,’ Chen Lin thought, hesitating for a moment, wondering if he should go offer a hand.

Just then, disaster struck!

The older worker’s body suddenly swayed. His footing gave out, and without any warning, he collapsed to the side!

The massive speaker, now unbalanced, slipped from their grasp. It plummeted with terrifying force, heading straight for Shen Yan and Yunqing, who were walking right in front of Chen Lin!

"Look out!"

The younger worker’s terrified shout had barely escaped his lips.

Shen Yan and Yunqing hadn’t even had time to process what was happening; they only turned their heads instinctively.

In that split second, Chen Lin’s mind went blank. His body’s instincts took over, moving faster than thought!

The physical abilities enhanced by "Little Champion" were instantly pushed to their absolute limit!

He lunged forward like an arrow, and in the fraction of a second before the speaker hit, he shoved the two girls out of the way with all his might!

And in the very instant he completed the action, a long string of system messages popped up before his eyes, appearing so quickly that he had no time to read them!
