Chapter 33: Chapter 33: 2 Madmen

"Babe, who is she?"

Jian Yu turned her head and raised an eyebrow. "My roommate."

She rolled her eyes, listlessly pursing her lips.

’Her eyes were sore. Using a honey trap is so much trouble. They’re all swollen from crying.’

’The dean once said that I look my prettiest when I cry, and it makes it easy for people to let their guard down.’

’If there’s ever anything I can’t handle, I should just cling to the most powerful person I can find and cry my heart out. Once I cry until they soften up, the problem will definitely be solved.’

"Oh, just a roommate." Xi Yu didn’t think much of it.

He speared a piece of fruit from the dessert platter. "Want a bite?"

Jian Yu snapped back to reality and obediently opened her mouth, eating the strawberry he held to her lips.

Juice spilled out, staining her already crimson lips.

Sitting on his lap, her neck was fair and slender, her aura innocent, and her table manners demure.

When she blinked, her long, dark, thick lashes fluttered, making her look both innocent and seductive.

Xi Yu narrowed his eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing. "Babe, are you full?"

His voice was low and he spoke slowly, as if holding something back.

"Mhm," Jian Yu nodded perfunctorily. She was thinking.

’Assuming Xu Jianjuan really is reborn, then her warning me not to go back to the Qin Family...’

’Could it be because in the protagonist’s past life, my character—a mere side character—went back to the Qin Family?’

’But I shouldn’t be a child of the Qin Family.’

’Unless they got the wrong person, and the one I’m related to isn’t the Qin Family Head.’

She opened the Star Network and did a quick search. The Qin Family of the Imperial City was known for its severe infighting; basically, none of the children lived to adulthood.

’I’m eighteen this year. In the Qin Family, the only one who could be my father seems to be the Family Head.’

The person who had the matching necklace was also named Qin.

Jian Yu found the name of the Family Head’s son. Unsurprisingly, it was Qin Xianzhao.

"Are you trying to find your family, babe?"

The man’s palm was large, resting on her waist.

His tone was somber. "Why are so many people trying to steal my babe?"

Jian Yu turned her head.

His scorching gaze fell upon her, and warning bells blared in her mind.

The tips of her ears turned red. She opened her mouth slightly, wanting to explain.

Xi Yu kissed her like a mad dog.

Her breath was stolen away, her chest heaving uncontrollably.

Her train of thought cut short, Jian Yu was in a foul mood and tried to push him away.

She couldn’t move him, so she gave in, decisively going limp and enjoying it.

Her eyes half-lidded, she appreciatively studied Xi Yu’s face, which was flush with desire but had lost none of its sharp edge.

It wasn’t until she was struggling to breathe, feeling slightly suffocated.

"Slow... slow down."

Her breathing was erratic, her soft gasps broken. Her token resistance turned even more feeble, a classic case of feigned refusal.

"Are you two done yet?" Pei Yin sat on Ting Ying’s massive back, tightly clutching a long metal chain.

The emotions a Soul Beast radiates are often several times stronger than its master’s.

The laboratory was several thousand square meters and twelve meters high.

Ting Ying suddenly let out a sharp cry and, carrying him, flew directly ten meters into the air.

"..." Pei Yin’s lip twitched.

He loosened his grip, nonchalantly dangling the chain.

The downturned corners of his eyes betrayed a hint of annoyance.

The crisp clinking of the chain echoed through the cavernous space, the sound seeming to ricochet off every surface.

Sheng Yue frowned. He found the constant clinking and clanking incredibly distracting.

It was seriously slowing down his review of the Primordial Beast data.

But he also knew that Pei Yin wasn’t the real culprit.

"Xi Yu."

His voice was cold and clear, just not as steady as it usually was.

"Well, well, look at that. Even our great Sheng Yue can’t take it anymore," Pei Yin said, one leg bent and propped on Ting Ying’s back, his eyes full of mockery.

His other long leg dangled down, swinging gently.

Seeing that there was no shyness in Jian Yu’s eyes, but rather a faint hint of resistance, the gloom on his own face dissipated.

Ling Yanzhi shared the Star Brain’s display, splitting it into three floating screens so each of them could look at a section.

He’d been scrolling for ages and still hadn’t found anything useful.

’Of all the people here, Xi Yu is the only one with nothing to do. He has it so easy.’

Feeling it was unfair, he casually tossed an apple at Xi Yu’s head.

Yang Zhang shot out two tentacles, snatched the apple, and retracted them, shoving the fruit into its mouth in one go.

"CRUNCH."

As they pulled apart, the pad of Xi Yu’s thumb caressed the corner of Jian Yu’s lips.

He stared intently into Jian Yu’s hazy eyes, watching her catch her breath and feeling the limpness of her waist.

She was clearly wearing the bracelet, but he could have sworn he smelled a sweet fragrance.

"My babe is so delicate. Can’t take it already?"

"You’re so beautiful when you cry, babe."

Xi Yu’s tone was intimate. "But a babe who’s been kissed to tears by me is the most beautiful of all."

Jian Yu: "..."

"I’m done." Sheng Yue, who had been sitting ramrod straight, stood up with even stiffer posture.

He left.

Yin Jiu was draped listlessly over his shoulder.

"Nothing useful here. I’m going to the library to check." Pei Yin leaped off Ting Ying.

As he left, he tossed a broken gold chain into the maw of a disposal bot.

Ling Yanzhi closed the Star Brain and crouched down to Xi Yu’s left.

He seemed to always have a handkerchief on him.

He took out a handkerchief embroidered with a subtle green lotus pattern and wiped Jian Yu’s mouth.

He didn’t look very happy; the veins on the back of his hand bulged slightly.

Xi Yu swiveled his chair. "Find anything?"

"No." Ling Yanzhi had even reviewed the experimental data from the destruction of that planet.

There was no progress whatsoever.

’To think this research data was obtained by destroying an entire planet... the Alliance must be burning with shame.’

"That’s great!" Jian Yu had been tense all day and accidentally blurted out her true feelings.

She quickly corrected herself. "No, I mean... I’m so sad about it."

She lowered her head, guiltily darting her eyes toward them.

She was genuinely relieved.

She was torn between hoping they would find something and fearing what they might uncover.

Xi Yu leaned in, his body pressing down. "What did you just say, babe?"

Jian Yu hunched over. "You’re heavy..."

She pitifully reached out and hooked a finger around Ling Yanzhi’s.

"That’s enough," Ling Yanzhi said, pushing Xi Yu away.

Jian Yu’s upper body fell into his arms, and she wrapped her arms around his waist.

’Oh, he’s solid.’ She gave his waist a couple of squeezes.

Ling Yanzhi’s body stiffened for a moment before he pulled her higher into his embrace.

Xi Yu kept his arms wrapped around her legs, not letting go.

So, they ended up splitting her, one half each.

Displeased, Xi Yu brought up the message from Xu Jianjuan.

"Go back to the Qin Family?" Ling Yanzhi raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Does she know something?"

Jian Yu shook her head.

’Don’t ask me, I don’t know either.’

"Give me access to the Star Brain."

Ling Yanzhi immediately sent a question mark back to Xu Jianjuan.

Just then, a message came from the dean: *Is there anyone with you?*

Jian Yu paused, then snatched back control of the interface.

She was curious what the dean wanted to tell her privately.

She peeked at the men and switched the Star Brain to a different mode.

"Turn off private mode." Xi Yu had no sense of personal space, his eyes staring openly.

His hand reached out, tracing a path up her calf.

Jian Yu froze for a second, then silently tugged at her dress.

’At least tie me up before you do this kind of thing.’

’I’m supposed to be playing the part of an innocent maiden being forced into a relationship.’

’After all, a girl who throws herself at a man is the cheapest kind.’

Jian Yu nodded to herself. Her face flushed red as she tried to pull her leg away.

When they had brought her out, she had still been asleep, so they hadn’t put any shoes on her.

During the meal, the blanket covering her had also been taken away.

’I feel so bare, so insecure.’

Xi Yu grabbed her ankle, pulling and dragging it toward him.

He squeezed her toes, then lowered his head and tickled them.

"That tickles," Jian Yu squirmed.

As if he’d discovered a new game, Xi Yu started tickling the sole of her foot.

"Let me go..."

Laughter escaped Jian Yu’s lips as she kicked her legs uncomfortably.

She braced her right hand against Ling Yanzhi’s leg, trying to pull herself away.

She wanted to look back and ask for his help, only to find a smile playing on his lips as well.

Noticing her gaze, Ling Yanzhi even leaned down.

His lips brushed against her earlobe. "Your legs are so pale, babe. Kick them a few more times."

Jian Yu: "..."

’A pair of perverts.’

Just then, she received a reply from the protagonist.

"She replied! She replied."
