Who Says I'm Not a Proper Adventurer?
Chapter 33: Brutal Slaughter, Green Blood Splatters

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Brutal Slaughter, Green Blood Splatters

The information was too overwhelming. Lance didn’t have time to read the description for the profession with the unique-sounding name.

Because after a moment of fear, the Goblins—as if to hide their inner panic—rallied their courage and charged at him again, howling.

Intent on killing him a second time.

"Then come."

Lance’s gaze hardened.

The Goblins sensed with terror that an aura, even more frightening than before, had erupted from the resurrected human.

The oppressive feeling was just like that of the apex predators they had encountered deep in the forest.

This time, Lance took the initiative and charged.

He raised his shield, deflecting a pouncing Goblin Scout, while the Short Sword in his other hand struck like a viper, precisely slicing through the conspicuous red spot under its arm.

"SHLICK!"

Green blood sprayed everywhere like it was shot from a pressure washer.

It didn’t just drench Lance; it splattered directly across the face of a nearby Goblin Barbarian Soldier, blinding it.

The Barbarian Soldier frantically tried to wipe its eyes.

Lance wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by.

He stepped forward. The thrust, a basic move from Castro Swordsmanship, was now shockingly fast.

The tip of his blade pierced through the red spot on the Barbarian Soldier’s throat without any resistance.

Another fountain of blood gushed out, drenching the ground.

He was surprised to find that the effects of Weakness Insight were simply brutal; every strike caused massive bleeding.

These two clean, instant kills stunned all the Goblins on the scene.

The next ten minutes became a one-sided slaughter.

Green blood stained the white, pebbled shallows a mottled mess.

Until the last Goblin collapsed with a final, desperate shriek.

Lance slowly straightened up, thick green ichor dripping steadily from his Leather Armor.

Just then, the sound of rapid, heavy footsteps echoed from the jungle to his side.

"Over there! Hurry!"

A large group of fully armed Adventurers burst through the bushes and into the clearing.

However, when they saw the scene before them, they all stopped in their tracks.

Goblin corpses lay strewn everywhere in pools of blood. Some were decapitated, while others had massive, bloody holes torn through their chests.

The green blood on the ground had formed puddles that glistened strangely in the sunlight.

A figure, so soaked in green blood that his face was unrecognizable, stood there silently.

Behind him lay the unconscious Damian.

Among the rescue party was the same injured Adventurer Lance had convinced to retreat earlier.

It seemed Lance’s words had struck a chord with him.

Instead of continuing to flee alone, he had followed the Guild’s tactical map and desperately sought out other Vanguard Teams that were pushing through the area.

The leader of this team was none other than a famous Professional Level Adventurer from Gray Rock Town.

"Wind Chasing" Gareth.

He was also the top expert in this vanguard force, the first to complete the mission to clear out the Gnoll stronghold.

They never expected that after rushing here as fast as they could, this would be the scene to greet them.

A few of the younger team members couldn’t help but swallow hard, their faces pale.

They had never seen such a frenzied and bloody scene.

When normal Adventurers killed monsters, it was to complete a mission or harvest materials; most would do just enough to get the job done.

But the scene before them...

...it looked less like a battle and more like a cathartic slaughter.

Lance noticed the arrivals and put away his gear.

He walked over to the youth, bent down, and gently lifted the unconscious Damian into his arms.

Then, he started walking toward the group of Adventurers.

As he drew closer, an oppressive aura mixed with the stench of blood washed over them.

A few of the less composed Adventurers involuntarily took a step back, clearing a path for him.

Only the squad in the lead remained perfectly still.

The captain, Gareth, wore a suit of silver-white Fine-Worked Chain Armor, with a Longsword humming with Wind Magic Power hanging at his waist.

Unlike the others, he didn’t seem afraid. Instead, he watched Lance with a look of admiration.

"The Vanguard Team has a convoy for transporting the wounded back. They’re just behind us."

Gareth spoke first, his voice calm and firm.

"You can head there and return to town with them."

Lance paused, giving the man a somewhat surprised look.

Gareth continued, his tone sincere.

"What’s your name?"

"I’ll make sure your kill count for these Goblins is reported accurately to the Guild. You can go straight to the counter to collect your reward. You won’t have to worry about anyone shorting you."

Lance was silent for a moment.

"Raven."

"Thanks."

With that, he carried Damian straight through the crowd and headed toward the rear.

Not until Lance’s figure had vanished into the depths of the jungle...

...did a man behind Gareth, a Longbow slung over his back, finally look away.

He was a Ranger, a Professional with high Perception and a keen eye.

"Boss, he doesn’t seem to be a Professional yet."

The Ranger glanced at the corpses littering the ground and quickly made his professional assessment.

"But he’s incredible."

"I was watching his movements. Even though he’s covered in blood, he doesn’t seem to have any serious injuries."

"To be able to solo nearly twenty well-trained Goblins before even choosing a Profession, and still be this composed afterward..."

The Ranger shook his head, his voice filled with admiration.

"That’s incredible. Before I chose my Profession, there’s no way I could have done that."

Another burly Professional, a giant two-handed sword on his back, came over and asked:

"Boss, that look you gave him... were you thinking of recruiting him?"

"Why didn’t you ask?"

He’d followed Gareth for years and could recognize the look of someone who had just spotted rare talent in his captain’s eyes.

Gareth turned to look at his teammate, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"No rush."

"Let’s finish this large-scale joint sweep mission first."

"As long as he continues down this path, as long as he comes to challenge the Underground City, our paths are bound to cross eventually."

Gareth gazed into the distance, toward the entrance to the Underground City hidden in the shadow of the mountains.

"Gray Rock Town isn’t a big place."

"All the true powerhouses eventually gather at that Underground City."

...

The return convoy bumped along the gravel road, its wheels letting out a cringe-inducing screech as they rolled over potholes.

Lance sat in the corner of an open-topped carriage transporting the wounded, a strange vacuum having formed around him.

The other Adventurers were pressing themselves against the far edges of the carriage, trying to get as far away from the walking menace as possible.

It wasn’t because they feared Lance’s aura, but a purely physical repulsion.

By now, the Leather Armor Lance wore was thoroughly soaked in dark green Goblin blood, which had been fermenting for several hours.

Baking under the warm afternoon sun, it gave off a suffocating, sour stench.
