The priestess’s eyes sparked with recognition the moment she saw Neo.

Her nose twitched, and she glanced between him and Luna, a sly grin spreading across her face.

Neo’s eyes widened.

"How the hell did you know that?"

She tapped her temple.

"One of my abilities as priestess. I can smell it on you both."

Her gaze shifted to Sai.

"Oh, it’s you. The traitor came back to die with the new chief?"

She turned to Neo, voice low and urgent.

"Never stop to stare at her curves when you’re fighting. Always move before your mind can even process them. She uses that shit on purpose."

Neo nodded.

The priestess stood completely naked across from them, body on full display.

He knew it was a deliberate distraction.

He gripped his spear tighter and lunged forward with rapid thrusts.

She dodged every strike with fluid grace, then hurled a ball of dark mana straight at his chest.

Neo spun his spear and slammed it into the dark orb, light clashing against shadow.

The force sent him flying backward.

He hit the ground hard but rolled to his feet just as she closed in for the kill.

He leaped up fast, barely avoiding her follow-up.

That dark mana wasn’t just hitting hard, it sucked at his light energy like a black hole.

Neo adjusted his grip.

They traded blows again, spears and dark blasts cracking through the air.

Then he charged the spear with a longer, stronger burst of light.

He saw the opening and drove the spear into her shoulder.

The impact launched her toward the river.

The Nyx elders who had come with her stared in shock, eyes wide.

Their strongest warrior was gone.

This new chief was even stronger than the last one.

All their fault for listening to her in the first place.

Then their eyes turned to Sai.

One elder stepped forward, bowing low.

"Per the rules of the duel, war preparations stop here."

He rubbed his hands together nervously.

"And we will no longer consider Sai a traitor."

Neo ignored the man’s words.

He looked at Sai and Luna.

"Let’s head back to our tribe."

He glanced back at the elder.

"As we agreed, prepare one year’s worth of food for us."

The elder gritted his teeth but nodded.

Neo, Luna, and Sai turned and started making their way back.

Behind them, the elders immediately started shouting at each other, each one claiming he should be the new chief.

They had only gone a short distance when a skeletal figure dragged itself out of the river and collapsed on the ground.

Black bones cooled, flesh regrew, and skin formed until the priestess lay there, alive again.

The elders gasped.

She opened her eyes, slammed her fist into the dirt, teeth clenched.

"Neo! I will make you pay for this."

She glared at the arguing elders.

"You useless fools, fighting over who becomes chief while doing nothing to plan his death!"

She spread her succubus wings and took off, still gritting her teeth.

"He made me waste a life scroll. I’ll make him pay..."

She flew straight to the castle, slipped into her room, and pulled a book from the shelf.

A hidden door opened.

She stepped through, and it sealed behind her.

At the end of the passage she reached a chamber with a scroll floating inside a mana shield.

She dispelled the barrier, grabbed the scroll, and saw the damage.

The Scroll of Life, each section gave her an extra life.

Now it was spent.

She bit her lip.

It could only be recharged a limited number of times per year.

Useless for now.

But Neo thought she was dead.

That gave her a huge edge.

She needed to use it.

The best move was to sneak into Storm Fang, change her face, infiltrate his house, and kill him while he slept.

She left the chamber, returned to her room, then flew out of the castle.

Passing over the dark forest, she spotted the elders and dropped down in front of them.

"Keep your mouths shut. Tell everyone I died in the lava. No funny ideas while I’m gone. I have things to do."

She shot off toward Storm Fang as fast as her wings could carry her, teeth grinding.

Neo, you will pay for this.

Meanwhile, Neo walked with Luna and Sai.

A new notification appeared:

Find and kill the infiltrator who is planning to enter your chief house.

Rewards: Killing the enemy, talent advancing to blue rank.

Failure: Tribe destruction and Nyx village expansion.

Neo’s eyes widened.

An infiltrator targeting his house.

This had to be from Nyx.

He thought for a moment.

The quest mentioned Nyx expansion, so the spy was definitely from there.

Then it clicked.

Sai. She had the best ability to sense dark mana.

Then as they were walking it didn’t take long and Neo and Luna and Sai all reached the tribe and they walk inside the house.

Then Neo looks at Sai and tells her to call all the guards here.

He has something to say to her and the guards.
