Chapter 26: Get. Away. From. Her.
The fabric slipped over her shoulders, exposing the thin cotton chemise beneath. It was old, worn thin from too many washings, and it clung to her skin, barely concealing the shape of her breasts.
Kaelen’s gaze dropped.
And for the first time, something flickered in his cold eyes.
Hunger.
"Well," he said softly. "That’s... unexpected."
Morgana’s face burned with shame. She wanted to cover herself, to flee, but she couldn’t move.
Kaelen reached out and traced one finger along the edge of the chemise, just above the swell of her breast.
Morgana’s breath caught.
"You’re trembling," he observed.
"I’m afraid, Your Majesty."
"I know." His smile widened. "That’s part of the appeal."
His fingers slipped lower, tracing the curve of her breast through the thin fabric.
Morgana bit her lip, trying to suppress the gasp rising in her throat.
Don’t react. Don’t give him the satisfaction.
But her body betrayed her.
Her breath quickened. Her skin flushed. And beneath the chemise, her nipples hardened, pressing against the fabric.
Kaelen noticed.
Of course he did.
"Fascinating," he murmured. His hand cupped her breast, his thumb brushing over the hardened peak.
Morgana couldn’t stop the soft sound that escaped her lips....half gasp, half moan.
Kaelen’s eyes gleamed. "There it is."
He squeezed gently, his thumb circling her nipple through the fabric, and Morgana’s knees weakened.
No. No, this can’t....
But her body didn’t care what her mind wanted.
Heat pooled low in her belly. Her thighs pressed together, trying to suppress the ache building between them.
And worse, far worse...she could feel herself growing wet.
Kaelen’s other hand came up, cupping her other breast, and he kneaded them both slowly, deliberately, his gaze fixed on her face.
"You’re enjoying this," he said, his voice soft and mocking.
"No...."
"Don’t lie." He pinched her nipple lightly, and Morgana gasped. "Your body is telling me everything I need to know."
Shame flooded through her, hot and suffocating.
But she couldn’t stop the way her body responded to his touch, couldn’t stop the heat, the ache, the way her breath came in short, desperate gasps.
Kaelen’s smile turned predatory.
"Let’s see more," he murmured.
He hooked his fingers into the neckline of the chemise.
And pulled.
The fabric tore.
Not completely...but enough.
Enough that her breasts spilled free, pale and full in the firelight.
Morgana’s hands flew up to cover herself, but Kaelen caught her wrists.
"No," he said softly. "I want to see."
He pushed her hands down to her sides and held them there, his grip firm but not painful.
And then he looked.
His gaze raked over her exposed breasts, lingering on the curve, the swell, the way her nipples were hard and flushed.
"Beautiful," he said quietly. "I’ll give my brother that. He has excellent taste."
Morgana’s eyes burned with unshed tears.
Please. Please just let this end.
But Kaelen wasn’t finished.
He released one of her wrists and brought his hand up, cupping her breast again....this time skin to skin.
The contact was cold, shocking, and Morgana gasped.
He squeezed gently, his thumb brushing over her nipple, and she bit her lip so hard she tasted blood.
"You’re so responsive," he murmured, his voice almost approving. "Does my brother know? Has he touched you like this?"
"No, Your Majesty."
"Pity." His hand moved to her other breast, kneading slowly. "He’s missing out."
His fingers found her nipple and pinched...lightly at first, then harder.
Morgana moaned.
She hated herself for it.
Hated the way her body arched into his touch, the way heat flooded between her thighs, the way her breath came in desperate, broken gasps.
But she couldn’t stop it.
Kaelen’s smile was triumphant.
"There it is," he said softly. "That’s what I wanted to see."
He leaned down, his breath cold against her skin.
His mouth hovered just above her breast.
"Let’s see how you taste," he murmured.
His lips parted...
And the door slammed open.
Morgana gasped, her head snapping toward the sound.
Draeven stood in the doorway.
His eyes were burning gold, his expression thunderous.
"Get. Away. From. Her."
His voice was low, dangerous, and the air around him shimmered with heat.
Kaelen straightened slowly, his hand still cupping Morgana’s breast, his expression utterly calm.
"Brother," he said pleasantly. "What a surprise."
"I said, get away from her."
Kaelen’s smile widened. "Why? She’s just a servant. Surely you don’t...."
"Now."
The word was a growl.
Kaelen’s gaze flicked to Morgana, then back to Draeven. Something passed between them, something sharp and unspoken.
Then, slowly, Kaelen released her.
Morgana stumbled back, her hands flying up to cover her exposed breasts, her face burning with shame.
Kaelen turned to face Draeven fully, his expression amused.
"Possessive, are we?" he said lightly. "How... interesting."
"Get out," Draeven said, his voice tight with barely restrained fury.
Kaelen laughed...a cold, mocking sound. "This is my chamber, brother. If anyone should leave, it’s you."
Draeven stepped forward, and the temperature in the room spiked.
The air shimmered.
The fire in the hearth roared higher, flames licking toward the ceiling.
Kaelen’s smile faltered.
"Fine," he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "She’s all yours."
He turned toward Morgana, his pale eyes gleaming.
"We’ll continue this another time," he said softly.
Then he walked past Draeven and out of the room, his footsteps echoing down the corridor.
The door closed behind him.
And Morgana was left alone with Draeven.
She couldn’t look at him.
Couldn’t breathe.
She stood frozen, her arms wrapped around herself, her torn chemise barely covering her, her entire body trembling.
"Morgana."
His voice was rough. Strained.
She flinched.
"Look at me."
Slowly, she raised her eyes.
Draeven was standing a few feet away, his fists clenched at his sides, his jaw tight. His eyes were still burning...gold and molten and furious.
But not at her.
"Did he hurt you?" he asked quietly.
Morgana shook her head, her throat too tight to speak.
"Did he force you?"
"He... he ordered me to come," she whispered. "I couldn’t refuse."
Draeven’s expression darkened. "I’ll kill him."
