Chapter 31: The Giant’s Hand

Chapter 31: The Giant’s Hand

Zaid saw everything in slow motion; perhaps it was his heightened senses that allowed him to do so. Or perhaps it was because his body realized he was already dead.

He didn’t know.

Nevertheless, he saw and assessed everything clearly.

Scarlett was standing close to him, on his right, and had already thrown several vials of poison at the Cat. Would they reach it in time?

Maybe not...

Dodging this attack was nearly impossible—if not impossible. The cat’s strength had skyrocketed severalfold; that was surely its ultimate ability.

The force was enough to shatter his bones and take his life.

’But I won’t die...’ he swore to himself.

Not now.

He still had to take his revenge. He still had a glorious life ahead of him.

’I will still become one of those Spirit Tamers!’ he roared, staring at the burning torch in front of him.

His attention was divided. In an instant, a part of him opened the system and navigated through the Talent Store.

There was one that was genuinely good, and fortunately, he had enough ME to buy it.

[]

| Spirit Talent – Rank F (Passive)

| "The Giant’s Hand": Robert’s Spirit Talent.

| Effect: Your hands turn to steel; you gain a bonus when attacking with your fists and great resilience in your hands.

| Cost: 100 ME.

[]

It had caught his attention from the first time he saw it because it was a passive ability, which meant it was always active. Now he understood why Robert’s hands were so heavy and strong.

He hadn’t bought it because he didn’t think he’d need it, since he isn’t a boxer...

[You have purchased "The Giant’s Hand"...]

[The talent has been added to the first slot in "Rotating Talents."]

[You can change it at any time...]

Without a second thought, he removed his [Dagger Mastery] talent and equipped his new talent, [The Giant’s Hand].

[Passive Ability: "The Giant’s Hand" has been activated...]

The other part of Zaid’s mind reacted, but not to dodge. He leaped forward.

BOOM!

His hands gripped firmly between the Winged Cat’s claws. He felt them grow stronger to an absurd degree, allowing him to hold his ground against the Winged Cat’s terrifying strength.

His legs dug into the ground, and he practically lost all his momentum and strength—but he didn’t die!

That made him smile wildly, and he looked his enemy straight in the eye. His gaze seemed to challenge him.

"RAWWWWR!" The enraged cat tried to attack him in a different way.

However, several shards of glass shattered on it then. Completely immobilized and unable to shake off the toxins, they pierced its skin and entered through its pores.

Although the bones in his arms ached, Zaid knew that this was his moment to shine.

He didn’t know what the poisons were, but he had less than three minutes left to keep fighting without taking damage—he had to prove it!

His attacks grew more frantic. He wouldn’t be able to use the dagger for the next 24 hours, unless he relied on his limited knowledge of it. So he used his fists and struck with all his might.

Clumsy blows, but blows nonetheless.

Misguided moves, but they helped him win.

The cat found itself surrounded by internal pain from the poison and external pain from the blows of a bastard who seemed to be striking it with iron...

Suddenly, the fire vanished from its body; it wanted to focus its attacks on a single claw. It knew that with a single strike it could drive this bastard away or split him in half... yet it realized it couldn’t move.

Most of the poison that had entered its body was paralyzing poison.

Scarlett realized she’d succeeded, so she ran over to Zaid. "Do it now, Gio. You have to cut off its tail and eat it, then make it drink your blood—you don’t have much time!"

Zaid turned to look at her, puzzled. "Eat its tail? Are you kidding?"

"Huh? No! You have to do that. Don’t worry—it’ll regrow later."

Zaid looked at the cat’s tail—which was frozen in place—and shuddered... Wait, was that for real? He swallowed hard.

The cat trembled, too. Were they going to cut off its tail? Those human bastards...!

However, when it saw the human man holding that sharp dagger and staring at its tail, even its guts twisted.

He was really going to do it!

"Wait, wait, wait!"

Suddenly, a woman’s voice stopped Zaid from doing what he was about to do.

And right in front of him, the cat transformed into a beautiful woman. Physically, she rivaled Alice’s beauty.

As beautiful as a flower, she was milky white with long black hair that fell past her buttocks. Her figure was extraordinary. Every curve was magnificent, yet that long black tail protruding from her buttocks...

"You can’t do that to me! I-I’m just like you, j-just a little different!"

"I can do whatever you want...!"

"W-whatever you want!"

She repeated it, and every time she spoke, she made a genuine effort to make her very large breasts jiggle...

Zaid froze. He really hesitated. Should he do that?

"I told you before. Don’t let her charm you." Scarlett snorted. "Cats will always try to do that. Even though she might be that beautiful female, you mustn’t fall for her charms. Because they’ll manipulate you. She’s a cat, just like all the others."

"Is this really how it’s done? Don’t you need a contract for this?" he asked.

He really knew very little about the Spirit Tamer. Although he had once heard that they had a peculiar way of taming spirits, he didn’t find out much more.

"If you want, ask her. Since she decided to show that she can become human, she should be able to answer," Scarlett said, looking at the cat. "Hey, cat. Give up. You tried to kill him—do you really think he won’t do it? Tell him how to make it hurt less, so at least you’ll feel less pain." She was blunt.

The cat looked at her with fiery eyes. She growled, but softly. She didn’t like this woman.

Zaid saw an opportunity then...

"You’re right... since she tried to kill me, then why am I hesitating?" He stepped forward and grabbed the cat’s tail. With a sharp tug, he flipped her over, leaving her stunning buttocks facing upward.

Then he grabbed her tail and pressed the dagger against its base...

She trembled. "W-w-w-wait!"

"J-j-just the tip! J-j-j-just the tip will be enough, and the contract will be sealed!" she exclaimed fearfully, seeing how determined he was.

Zaid looked at Scarlett, and she nodded in agreement.

"My master told me you could cut it in half to make it safer. Don’t listen to that girl—just look out for your own safety," Scarlett advised him kindly.

’I feel like I’m trusting her too much, but... I have no other choice.’

The cat cried because no one was listening to her, and then she cried even harder in pain when half of her beautiful, magnificent tail was cut off.

Zaid swallowed hard... as he looked at the tail in his hand. ’I still feel like I’m trusting strangers too much, but...’

The strength he had seen in this cat earlier left him stunned. Just Rank D, and it was already that strong—if only he could have that kind of strength...

He took a deep breath and steeled himself. He closed his eyes, immediately put his tail in his mouth, and began chewing on it.
