Chapter 19: Timeline Hopping

The news about the disappearance of the Underworlders has spread and it was the topic of the day. The bodies were only seen as the aftermath and scattered in the surface.

It was just one night and all of them were killed. The news was about "Who is the one responsible for all of their disappearing?"

Kevin immediately thought that they were all dead. And it was caused by none other than his Master Ren. He was the only possibly responsible for all this.

Then when Kevin walked towards his Master’s house, he saw a foreboding scene.

Another phenomenon has appeared. Rifts from the skies were opened and then Ren watched the skies to tear apart.

The vast expanse of rifts in the sky were made and the crimson eyes of the Demon Gods he stared at the rifts and the eyes were also staring back at him.

They have failed. Humanity has lost. They didn’t thought the end has a timer and then it come unnoticed.

The winged demons came out of the rifts and launched to devour the humans below.

Ren sighed, with all his efforts to defend humanity, he didn’t expect that it was not enough. All his struggles, was it for naught?

He made mistakes but was it enough to say that it would lead to this? He questioned himself. The thing was, he has done his best. It was his very best that humanity has made it this far.

His eyes was about to tear up, but he restrained himself. All he has to do was, to fight till the last moments of his life.

With that, he called off his personal System.

"Status!" He shouted. With that, he assigned his stats and then increased them all.

With that, he immediately dashed to attack the demons that went scattering in all places. He drew his sword, with a metallic sound that echoed throughout. Together with the other groups of awakeners, they all attacked.

He together with his clones, attacked. He dashed and they all scattered. Several ones of the enemies saw him and then the battle began. Ren dashed and grabbed one of the demons then ripped them apart. He punched others and they exploded to bits. Making Ren to obliterate them with just a punch.

The enemies soon started to notice his presence and then they all went to flock at him. Ren immediately went on a killing spree. Smashing and exploding them to bits.

Then soon after, Greater Demon Lords attacked and they all descended to Ren’s presence. They have leathery wings and were all fully armored with steel plates. He was surrounded by beings that were stronger than all normal demons combined.

They attacked and took turns on punching him. Smashing Ren on the face then on the abdomen. All were reverberating while their punches landed.

Ren gritted his teeth with every hit and they packed weight. It was not that painful for him but every hit was earth-shattering. Their punches were faster than his perception could sense.

In the end, Ren was kneeling on the ground and they were all looking down at him. They could only look at him with pity.

The same as the rest of Humanity.....

In a flash, his head flew and it rolled over several times. His death ended up painlessly.

With that, he woke up abruptly and then breathed deep. He coughed several times and then went to grasp his bedsheet. It was early morning, the sun’s rays bathed the room with its radiance and Ren then felt that something was amiss.

He was in his unfamiliar bed and it felt unnatural. Then realised that it was his bed in the past. He watched the calendar and it was dated in 2016

It was 10 years before his death! "I was sent back to the past!?"

So he went to see his phone and then saw that it was his 18th birthday and also his Awakening. It was today!

And so, he stood up immediately to wash and dress up. He was in his dorm and then went to the academy grounds immediately.

The travel was not that far and he arrived at the Academy Awakening Halls in a jiffy. He was running then greeted by Drey. One of the Top notchers of this year’s batch.

"Hey! Why is the Trash of Bloodhound family here? You wanted to awaken, huh? I bet he is null this time. The last time was a null result and I bet he will awaken as a null the second time." Drey smirked at him. Then his lackeys laughed.

"Hmm, I have no time for you." Ren said to him.

"Huh!? What did you say?" Drey grabbed Ren on the shoulders and then Ren gripped it and swung him on the ground. He fell on the floor flat and then butt first.

"Today is the day of my awakening. So scram!" Ren shouted. Drey and his lackeys went to stand up and then were surprised.

Drey was speechless and his mouth was agape, he didn’t expect that he would be the one getting humiliated. "How did Ren become so brave against me?" He gritted his teeth and saw Ren dash in the hallways. Then afterwards, bit his lips. "Just you wait, I will make you pay for this."

Ren in the past was a null. Or so what they called classless. But to his surprise, he got included into the teleportation of the Awakeners in the Dark World. That mistake made his life to turn around and so, he was forced to adapt to the direst situations there.

Luckily, he could grow stronger with stat crystals, or else he would not survive there at all.

He speedily went to the awakening halls and then saw that his friends were there.

He waved at them and then, his friends waved back at him.

He went to greet them and he realised that they were waiting for him. Ted was an inch shorter than Ren with brown hair and eyes. While Sarah was having black hair, pig tails, and slightly taller than Ren.

"Dude why are you so late?" Asked Ted.

"Yeah! Today is the day we will awaken!" Sarah expressed excitement.

"Yeah," Ren felt nostalgic, his friend’s memories flooded his mind. They all died valiantly in their last moments.

Ren felt emotional for a second and then promised to not let them die this time. With them, he has a new purpose in his mind.

"Hey, the Trash of the Bloodhound Family is here!"

"What? The Bloodhound Family? Aren’t they one of the greatest family that closed the first gates?"

"Yeah, but seeing him, his family name was humiliated. He was unable to awaken on his 12th birthday and was cast out of the family.

"Ah I see, well he will have his one last chance today."

Murmurs and chatters behind his back was always a normal thing since then. Ren knew that he will be the talk of the school if he will show himself.

"Hey, don’t worry about them and just awaken. Let them show how great your awakening is!" Ted patted his back.

"Yeah! Make them shut up with your awakening!" Sarah added.

"Thanks everyone!" Ren replied.

Ren then thought that something was amiss. He in the past was not an awakened. And also, the rifts only appeared in the late 2026. But in 2016, the rifts were already in the past and it was also in their 9th one. "So they came in 2006?"

"Did the timeline has changed in my regression? Am I hopping in the timeline? I know for sure that this is different world and time! Wait, timeline hopping? That’s new to me! Wait, so my past timeline is doomed huh."
