Chapter 40/The Grandfather’s Gambit
Chapter 40: 40/The Grandfather’s Gambit
Chapter 40
Victor’s Point of View (Cedric’s Grandfather)
When Cedric left the office, a heavy silence ensued. I leaned back slowly, watching Edward coldly, then broke that silence and said in a firm tone:
"Mr. Edward, as I told you, my grandson Cedric is engaged, and the engagement will not be canceled."
Edward jolted in his seat, his eyes widening with an anger he couldn’t suppress as he leaned toward me, shouting:
"What are you saying, Mr. Victor? Are you agreeing that your grandchildren should die?"
Not a single hair on my face moved; I maintained my icy gaze and said:
"No, they are my grandchildren, and I want them to live in my house."
Confusion was clear on Edward’s features. He leaned back slightly, shaking his head in lack of comprehension:
"I don’t understand, Mr. Victor."
I said calmly, a smile barely touching my lips:
"I will explain to you."
I slowly pulled out my cigarette case, lit one, took a deep breath, and blew the smoke into the air while watching his tense expression. I said:
"Your daughter is carrying my grandchildren in her pussy, and I have been waiting for this day impatiently. I didn’t imagine they wouldn’t be from Cedric’s fiancée, but I am happy."
Edward nodded quickly as if looking for a way out: "Yes."
I continued my speech, flicking the ash from my cigarette coldly:
"Since you want to preserve your honor, and I appreciate those who care about their honor..."
"Thank you, Mr. Victor," he said in a low voice tinged with shame.
I fixed my gaze on him and said sternly:
"Your daughter will marry my grandson."
He asked eagerly, leaning in again: "Will you cancel the engagement?"
I gave the final word in one syllable: "No."
Anxiety began to gnaw at him again, and he asked confusedly: "Then what?"
I took another drag from the cigarette and said with total coldness:
"Your daughter will not marry my grandson Cedric."
Edward’s body stiffened, and he knit his brows in shock: "Then who will she marry?"
I said in a confident tone that accepted no debate:
"She will marry my second grandson, Alexander."
A dead silence fell over the room. Edward froze for moments as if trying to process what he had heard, then said in shock:
"What? She’ll marry the brother of her children’s father? What is this madness?"
I tilted my head slightly and gave him a piercing look that made him recoil. I said in a low voice:
"I know you were going to marry your daughter off to an old man, Mr. Edward. Didn’t you see that as madness back then?"
In moment, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and defeat was evident in the face of my words. He lowered his head slightly and said submissively:
"I agree... the important thing is that my daughter will be married and her children will have a name."
I slowly stubbed out my cigarette in the ashtray and commanded him:
"Very well, Mr. Edward. You may go now."
The man stood up with difficulty as if mountains were on his shoulders and said: "Thank you, Mr. Victor."
He left the office with heavy steps. As soon as the door closed behind him, Cedric rushed inside, tension nearly tearing his features apart. He said eagerly:
"Grandfather, did you agree?"
I fixed my sharp gaze on Cedric’s eyes, feeling an overwhelming desire to crush the arrogance that surrounded him. I rested my hands on the wooden desk and leaned toward him slightly, letting him see clearly the features of anger beginning to etch onto my face.
I said in a low voice carrying an unmistakable threat:
"I haven’t held you accountable for your mistakes yet, Cedric. I let you play and frolic in your debauchery, but what is the meaning of making a girl pregnant with your dick?"
Cedric took a step back, signs of confusion appearing as he tried to catch his breath. Then he said in a shaky tone:
"Grandfather, I didn’t want this to happen. It was a mistake."
At that moment, I felt my blood boil. I stood up very slowly, making the leather chair issue a haunting creak. I shouted at him with a voice that shook the office walls, while the veins in my neck bulged from the intensity of my rage:
"A mistake? Is that what you call a mistake? The girl is now pregnant with twins in her pussy, and you tell me without any shame that it’s just a mistake!"
Cedric threw himself before my desk, the fear for his children outweighing his fear of me. He said in a hoarse voice and clear pleading:
"Grandfather, that man will kill my children. Delay the time for accountability for later."
My features didn’t soften; I only increased the harshness of my gaze as I pointed my hand sharply toward the door, reminding him of the truth he was trying to escape:
"Have you forgotten you are engaged? Are you mad, Cedric?"
"Grandfather, please, my children are in danger!" he said.
I looked up from the papers in front of me, maintaining my habitual calm despite the storm filling my grandson’s eyes. I leaned back into the plush leather chair, slowly interlacing my fingers as I scrutinized his trembling features.
I said in a dignified, neutral tone:
"The agreement has been made, Cedric. Edward’s daughter will enter this house as one of the Volkov family."
I breathed a sigh of relief as his shoulders relaxed slightly, as if a mountain had been lifted from his chest. But I didn’t give him time to rejoice; I continued coldly:
"But she will not marry you... she will marry Alexander."
A lethal silence filled the office; it felt as if time had stopped. Cedric froze in his tracks, his face turning as white as a sheet, while his eyes widened in a shock that made him reel back a step.
"What? Alexander?" he said in a choked voice, as if he couldn’t believe what he heard. "Grandfather... are you joking? They are my children! Stephanie is mine!"
I stood up slowly, putting my hands behind my back as I walked toward him with measured steps that made the floor groan under my shoes. I said in a low, harsh voice:
"You are the one who lost your right to her when you filled her pussy with your seed while you were engaged. I do not break my contracts for fleeting whims. Edward wants a name for my grandchildren, and Alexander will give them that name."
Cedric slammed the desk with his fist with a force that made the stationery tremble. He cried out in collapse:
"This is madness! I won’t allow this to happen! Alexander won’t touch her, do you hear me?"
I approached him until only inches separated us. I fixed my gaze into his burning eyes and said with a commanding hiss:
"You will allow it because you want her to live, and you want those children to come into this world. Her father was going to kill her, Cedric, and I am the only solution to save her. Alexander will protect her with the name, and you will continue your engagement as planned."
