Chapter 35: Cafeteria Trouble II
So Lynx turned inward, to the only greedy voice he trusted.
"Ughhn," he groaned mentally.
’System. How much will it cost to know more about Caius?’
[2000 APS points]
’What the hell, you’re becoming more greedy. 2000 points just to know more about some random dude?’
[Yeah, everything about the system is detailed and a hundred percent accurate. But hey, since you’re the ’chosen’ one, I could give you some minor information for free]
’Chosen one? Did I just hear you use sarcasm on my chosen one title? What kind of system are you dude. I don’t need your information, I’ll just beat the shit out of him.’
[Suit yourself, Lynx]
Kira started waving a hand in front of his face. "Lynx, what happened? You lost focus for a few seconds and you kept furrowing your brows."
"Just thinking about some things. Don’t worry." Lynx replied calmly while he finished the last of his snacks. He wiped his mouth with a white napkin and then turned, locking his gaze on Caius.
A status window flashed in his mind.
[Name: Caius Volm

Year 3 Earth Affinity Student.]
’Shit. What happened while I was gone? Did everybody get an upgrade or something. He’s pretty strong though... or weak? I don’t even know what to say. But I think maybe Kira could beat him.’
While Lynx was having his mental talk, Caius was staring deep into Lynx’s heterochromatic eyes and starting to feel intimidated. They were deep. Like an endless abyss with golden streaks cutting through them.
But he didn’t care. He was a Year 3 Earth Affinity student. He was sure he could beat the Pretty Boy. He smirked and nudged Lucas. "You better keep your end of the bargain or I’ll break you next. I’m going to them right now."
Lucas just shrugged, his heart beating fast in anticipation. "I don’t care, man. Just don’t rough up the lady too bad." He resumed eating, already imagining the guy -Lynx- who’s in his position sitting with Kira bloodied.
The people in the cafeteria saw the big guy Caius, standing up from his seat and walking toward Lynx’s table.
Lynx was mid conversation with Kira. More like flirting, making her all red and stuttering. When he felt Caius’s hand land on his shoulder.
He could’ve easily avoided it. But he wanted to see how far the big guy would go.
Kira’s smile faded instantly. She looked up at the big guy and could smell trouble.
"Pretty boy, I’m sorry for what I’m about to do to you, but I have to do it," Caius laughed, loud and cruel. "I need those resources, man. So just don’t hold a grudge against me."
"What do you want?" Kira looked at his uniform and realized he was a senior. She groaned inwardly. ’Lynx’s been back one day. Just one day... and he’s already attracting trouble.’
Lynx could tell what Kira was thinking. He was about to tell her what was going on, that Caius is here to rough her up instead, but he just kept quiet and stood up instead.
The whole place went silent.
A Year 3 vs a Year 2.
The big guy vs the lost but returned golden boy with four affinities.
Some guys looked excited. They wanted to see how Caius would beat Lynx. Some seniors just watched closely, arms crossed.
’System, if I beat this guy really badly, I can get his room, right? From the looks of it he’s supposed to be staying alone and his room should be really good’
[Yeah. Humiliate him and Get 500 APS points]
Lynx grinned. He threw a punch straight at the guy’s face.
Caius barely had time to react. He threw his arms up and roared, Earth mana bursting around his fists. A wall of stone erupted from the floor to block it.
CRACK!
Lynx’s fist shattered the wall like glass. Dust and rubble exploded outward. Students screamed and ducked under tables.
But Lynx wasn’t even using full power. He wasn’t even using a quarter or half of his strength. He stepped through the debris, uniform clean, and tilted his head.
"Earth Master, huh? That all you got. You’re pretty weak for someone this size," Lynx taunted with a smirk on his face.
Caius snarled, veins bulging on his neck. "Shut the hell up!" He slammed both palms into the ground.
BOOOOM!
Spikes of rock shot up everywhere, aiming to impale Lynx from every angle. The floor tore apart, chunks of tile flying.
Lynx sighed. He stomped once.
A thin layer of Earth mana, S-Rank but not at it’s full Rank power, rippled from his foot and flattened every spike instantly. The ground went smooth like nothing happened.
"What the..." Caius’s eyes widened.
Lynx was already in front of him.
THWACK!
A backhand. No Affinity, just raw strength.
Caius flew sideways, crashing through two tables. Wood splintered. Blood sprayed from his nose and painted the floor.
"Come on, Senior," Lynx said, dusting off invisible dust from his sleeve. His voice was light, amused. "You said you were gonna disfigure my face. Do it. Or are your arms too heavy to lift?"
Caius scrambled up, face twisted in rage and humiliation. Blood dripped from his lip. "You bastard!" He channeled all his mana. His skin turned to granite.
"EARTH ARMOR!"
The air grew heavy. Rocks floated around him, fusing to his body.
He charged. The ground shook with every step.
BOOM!. BOOM!!. BOOM!!!.
Lynx let him.
He sidestepped the first punch, let the second graze his shoulder, then caught Caius’s wrist mid swing.
"Too slow."
CRUNCH!
Lynx twisted. Caius screamed as his arm bent the wrong way, bone grinding.
"AAAAH!"
Another punch to the gut.
THUMP!
Air left Caius’s lungs in a violent whoosh.
A knee to the ribs.
CRACK!!
Another to the jaw.
CRACK!!
Teeth flew out from his face and skittered across the floor.
Caius dropped to one knee, gasping. His Earth Armor was already cracking.
"You call this A-Rank?" Lynx grabbed Caius by the hair and yanked him up. "I’ve seen level 4 beast hit harder. Did you skip training to lift weights?"
He threw him. Caius skidded 10 meters, leaving a trail of blood.
"Get up," Lynx commanded, voice cold now. "Or were you paid to lie down in your own blood?"
Humiliated, Caius roared and slammed his fist down. The cafeteria floor erupted. A massive pillar of stone shot up, trying to crush Lynx.
Lynx didn’t even look. He raised one hand and dispersed it with a flick of S-Rank Earth.
"Earth Master? More like Earth Babysitter,"
Lynx mocked, walking through the dust. "You can do better big guy".
Caius tried to summon more Earth mana, but his control was shattered. His hands were shaking. His A Rank Affinity meant nothing against someone toying with him.
"Fine. You want strength?" Caius ripped the stone from the floor and wrapped both fists in boulders. "LET’S SEE YOU TANK THIS!"
He lunged, swinging both massive fists.
Lynx caught both.
BOOM.
The impact shook the cafeteria. Lights flickered.
For half a second, Caius thought he had him. Then Lynx smiled.
"Good effort. 2 out of 10."
Lynx squeezed. The boulders shattered into dust. Then he drove both fists into Caius’s stomach, one after the other.
BAM BAM
Caius vomited blood. His eyes rolled back.
"Still standing?" Lynx said, grabbing his collar. "Impressive... For trash."
He lifted Caius off the ground with one hand and slammed him down.
CRASHHH
Tiles shattered. A crater formed.
"Year 3," Lynx said, stepping on Caius’s chest. "A Rank Earth Affinity. Embarrassing".
He wasn’t even breathing hard. Not a single scratch on him.
The entire cafeteria was dead silent except for Caius’s wet groaning. Most students watched with wide eyes. Some Juniors were covering their mouths, the guys were watching in fear now, some in awe. Some senior girls in the back were now staring at Lynx with something new in their eyes. Interest, Curiosity and something else.
Lucas had already crawled under a table, shaking, praying Lynx wouldn’t look his way.
Lynx crouched down and grabbed a fistful of Caius’s hair, lifting his bloody, swollen face up. One eye was already black and closed.
Caius was terrified. His eyes were watery, tears fell from his closed eye, lips trembling. All that arrogance was gone. He was looking at a monster.
"You live alone, right? in a single room" Lynx asked casually, like they were talking about the weather.
"Y-yes," Caius choked out, blood bubbling in his throat. "The room is... really big and it’s clean. I beat the last owner and... I’ve been living there."
Lynx smiled casually, thumb wiping blood off Caius’s cheek. "Room number?"
"F-fifteen! Room number 15! Upper side of the Boys Building!"
"Good boy. I’ll be living there now. I’ll could show up at the door anytime. So get the room ready and perfect for me. Filled with different types of stuffs." Lynx let go and stood up, wiping blood off his knuckles on Caius’s shirt. He looked down at him one last time. "You better makes it suit my taste and don’t come anywhere near Kira".
Some students had already reported the situation. Before guards could even burst through the doors, Lynx had already walked back to his table.
Two guards rushed in, saw the scene and flinched. One of them gagged. "What the hell happened here," one said, voice shaking. He immediately pointed at some students. "You! You! Take him to the infirmary. Now!"
They dragged Caius’s limp body away. He was muttering, crying, broken.
The boys looked at Lynx with dread. Mostly the Juniors and his Mates. The junior girls admired him more, some whispering his name.
And Kira?
Kira was just standing there, shocked. Mouth slightly open. She couldn’t believe Lynx had just toyed with a Year 3 senior like he was a training dummy. Like he was nothing.
Lynx picked up Kira’s ice cream like nothing happened. He took a bite, then held it out to her. "You done eating?" he asked her, grinning. "Let’s go."
Kira nodded slowly, still processing what just happened. How Lynx toyed with that Bulky Senior. Her legs felt weak. And together, they left the cafeteria.
