Chapter 34: Emerald Tempest – Legendary Rank Bow

They obtained an Uncommon-rank bow, another pair of gloves, a set of armor, two swords, a matched pair of daggers, and a saber.

Nathan’s gaze immediately stopped on the daggers.

Cain picked them up.

[Windfang Daggers - Uncommon-rank]

The twin weapons had equal length and weight.

Cain tossed them toward Nathan.

Nathan caught one in each hand.

The newly awakened Talent responded immediately.

His posture changed without conscious effort.

The right dagger remained forward, while the left settled closer to his ribs. He reversed both grips, tested their balance, then returned them to their original positions.

Every movement flowed cleanly into the next.

Ron watched him.

"That’s unfair."

Nathan stopped and raised an eyebrow. "What is?"

"You’ve held daggers for five seconds and already look better than someone who trained for months."

Nathan looked at the weapons.

"The talent only gives me the foundation."

"That doesn’t make it less unfair." Ron snorted.

The Uncommon-rank armor went to Jack.

It was lighter than the damaged Ironhide Combat Vest Cain currently wore, but it would provide Jack with enough protection without restricting his punches.

Cain stored the remaining items inside his Inventory.

The bow could be given to one of the Archery Club members later.

The spare weapons would also be useful once the group left the university.

When the final Orb disappeared, everyone looked toward Cain.

They had not forgotten the golden light beside the Tyrant’s corpse.

Ron narrowed his eyes.

"You’re hiding the good things."

"I’m not hiding anything."

"You walked over there and started smiling."

"I smile often, you know."

"No, you don’t."

Cain opened his Inventory, then a Yellow Scroll and a Yellow Orb appeared in his hands.

The golden light immediately attracted everyone’s attention.

Cain held both toward her.

"Take them."

Ron’s face twisted before Elara could react.

"Again?"

Cain glanced at him.

"You have a problem?"

"You always give Elara the best things!"

Ron pointed toward the Yellow Orb.

"That thing is clearly more valuable than everything we just opened."

Cain continued holding the items toward Elara.

Ron stepped closer.

"What about your loyal roommate who has been retrieving your weapons for years?"

Cain turned and kicked him.

Bang!

Ron flew across the parking area and landed on top of a zombie corpse more than ten meters away.

"Fuck!"

He rolled off the body and sat up.

"You could’ve answered normally!"

Cain faced Elara again as if nothing had happened.

"Take them."

Elara did not move, her gaze shifted between Cain and the golden objects.

This was already the second time he had placed his most valuable rewards in front of her.

The Cyan Scroll had granted Fracture Sight.

The Blue Orb had given her the Frostveil Sword.

Both had completely changed her combat ability.

Now, Cain was offering something far more valuable.

"I can’t accept these."

Cain placed one hand on her head.

"You’re doing it again."

Elara looked up.

"Doing what?"

"Thinking too much."

His fingers moved gently through her hair.

"They’re yours."

"But you killed it yourself."

"And I’m giving them to you." Cain smiled faintly.

’I wonder what kind of return I’ll get this time.’

The investments in Elara and Evelyne had already granted him Faultline Vision, Vital Restoration, and Greater Restoration.

Those rewards had come from Cyan and Blue items.

A Yellow Scroll and Yellow Orb stood an entire grade higher.

Cain’s curiosity had nearly become impatience.

Elara opened her mouth.

"I..."

Cain interrupted her as he pushed the objects closer.

"I already gave them to you. I don’t care what you’re going to do with them."

That was not entirely true because to be honest, Cain would be annoyed if she gave away something that could strengthen her directly.

However, the System considered the items invested the moment Elara accepted them. Whatever decision she made afterward belonged to her.

Elara slowly raised her hands and received them.

The Yellow Orb felt warm against her palm.

"I hope it gives me a sword."

Elara continued as she looked at the damaged Frostveil Sword.

"If it gives me a stronger sword, you can use it."

Cain laughed and patted her head again.

"I gave it to you. I’m not taking the item back even if it suits me."

Elara’s fingers tightened around the Orb, her cheeks gradually became red.

She lowered her face before Cain could see the full change in her expression.

Ron finally returned with pieces of rotten flesh clinging to the back of his shirt.

He looked at Cain with resentment.

"You kicked harder after gaining those Levels."

"That should’ve been obvious."

"But you could’ve controlled yourself."

"I did."

Ron fell silent. That answer made the kick feel worse.

Elara crushed the Yellow Orb.

A brilliant golden light burst between her fingers.

The surrounding air changed before the item even appeared.

A strong current passed through the parking area. Dust spiraled around Elara’s body, carrying faint traces of green light.

A longbow materialized in her hands.

The weapon had been constructed from dark emerald wood. Black-green metal reinforced both limbs without making the bow appear heavy.

Its smooth body curved inward like folded wings.

Thin silver patterns ran across the surface. The markings resembled wind currents passing over overlapping dragon scales.

A small emerald crystal rested beneath the black leather grip.

The bowstring was the strangest part.

It appeared to be a thin silver-green cord, yet the moment it stretched, a deep vibration passed through the air.

Nathan’s Mana Core reacted as the Wind surrounding him gathered toward the bow without being summoned.
