Chapter 30: Killing the 1st Echelon Rank Zombie
Nathan stopped before releasing the string.
Cain moved away from another heavy punch.
"I’m killing this one myself. You only need to remain here, right?"
"Yes."
"Then keep the others away from me and help Elara Level up."
Cain pointed the sword toward the surrounding mutated zombies.
"Don’t let any of them approach my fight."
Nathan lowered his bow.
"Can you really kill it alone?"
Cain looked at the widened wound behind the Tyrant’s knee.
"Naturally."
Elara cut down another zombie nearby.
"Don’t push yourself too far."
Cain smiled as he faced the Tyrant again.
"Don’t worry, I’ve already finished testing it."
Nathan turned away and resumed attacking the surrounding zombies.
The massive zombie charged Cain once more.
Its wounded knee slowed the movement slightly, but each step still cracked the concrete beneath its feet.
Cain waited for a moment.
The Tyrant pulled one fist backward.
Just before it attacked, Cain instantly moved.
He slipped past the outside of its arm and reached the damaged leg.
His Sword struck behind its knee.
Crack!
The weakened armor plate finally split.
A large section remained attached to the side of the joint by hardened flesh.
Cain moved behind the wounded leg and planted one boot against the back of its calf.
Using the leg as leverage, he grabbed the broken edge of the plate with his left hand.
The hardened surface felt like rough metal beneath his fingers.
Cain circulated more Ruin Dragon Force into his arm and pulled.
The Tyrant roared and tried to turn.
Its elbow swept backward, but Cain lowered his body and remained close to the damaged leg.
Dark energy spread from his fingers into the cracked armor.
"Get the fuck off."
Cain pulled with all his strength.
Rip!
The armor plate tore away from the joint.
Rotten blood and strips of black flesh followed it.
Cain threw the broken plate aside and jumped backward.
The Tyrant struck at him, but its fist passed through empty air.
Cain landed several meters away.
The exposed knee no longer possessed the protection that had resisted his sword.
There was no need to prolong the fight.
Cain tightened both hands around the sword and increased the output of Ruin Dragon Force to the limit his body could endure.
Dark gray energy surged through his muscles.
The Ironhide Combat Vest creaked around his chest as his body tightened beneath it. Veins rose along his arms and neck, while a burning pain spread through his shoulders.
His heartbeat became painfully heavy.
Every pulse forced more Ruin energy through his body.
Cain’s Strength rose sharply, but the burden increased with it.
Several muscles began trembling beneath the pressure. His joints became stiff, and a thin stream of blood ran from his nose.
Vital Restoration allowed him to sense the strain clearly.
His body could not maintain this level of power for long.
Cain ignored it as he would finish it in one move.
The Ironhide Tyrant roared and charged toward him.
Its wounded knee caused its body to lean slightly with every step, but its remaining speed was still enough to cross the distance quickly.
Cain remained where he was.
He did not rush forward or attack immediately.
Faultline Vision followed every shift in the Tyrant’s posture.
Cain waited for an opening.
The Tyrant pulled its right arm backward and swung its fist toward his head.
At that moment, its upper body rotated.
The damaged armor along the side of its neck separated slightly, exposing the weakened flesh beneath it.
Finally, the opening appeared before his eyes.
Cain moved as he stepped past the incoming fist and entered the Tyrant’s reach.
Before the creature could pull its arm back, his sword rose beside his body.
Cain planted his foot against the ground and twisted his waist.
Every bit of Strength granted by Ruin Dragon Force gathered into the blade.
The Tyrant attempted to turn toward him, but it was too late.
Cain swung the sword with all his strength.
The blade struck the damaged side of its neck.
Bang!
The remaining armor plate shattered and his sword continued through the exposed flesh without stopping.
The Ruin Dragon Force weakened everything along the path of the blade.
Hardened muscles were split apart.
The sword reached the bone.
Crack!
The bone broke beneath the force of the slash.
The sword completed its path through the opposite side of the neck.
The Ironhide Tyrant’s head separated from its body.
Its raised arm immediately lost its strength, then the enormous body fell forward with a heavy thud.
Boom!
The Ruin Dragon Force circulating through his body immediately decreased.
The moment Ruin Dragon Force returned to its normal output, the burden struck him all at once.
Pain spread through his shoulders and back, while several strained muscles burned beneath his skin.
Cain lowered the sword and took a deep breath.
Blood ran from his nose again, and both arms trembled from the burden.
However, a wide smile appeared on his face as he finally heard the notifications from the system that he had been waiting for.
