Chapter 20: "You want me to upgrade your Talent? Suck my dick then."
Cain turned toward the other students.
Most looked toward the same man near the entrance, waiting to see how he would respond.
Cain noticed their reaction and followed their gazes.
The young man held a black recurve bow in his left hand. A quiver filled with arrows rested across his back, while a second bundle had been tied near his waist for easier access.
A line of information appeared above the man.
[Human | Level 16]
Cain raised an eyebrow.
The man’s Level was lower than Alex’s. However, Cain knew that Level alone did not decide combat ability as Talents and Skills mattered.
The way everyone watched this person also suggested he was the leader.
Cain approached him.
"Are you in charge?"
The man nodded and introduced himself, "The name is Nathan."
Unlike Cole, Nathan did not appear nervous despite the tension surrounding them.
"What Cole did has nothing to do with the rest of us. I’ll make sure he won’t do it again."
Nathan looked at Cole’s swollen face and chuckled, "No. I don’t think he will."
Cain extended his hand.
"Cain."
Nathan shifted the bow into his other hand before accepting the handshake.
Cain then briefly explained their situation.
He told Nathan about the survivors gathered inside the auditorium and the groups they had rescued from the dormitory, fencing club, and university hospital.
Nathan listened without interrupting.
When Cain finished, he looked toward the people behind him.
His group consisted of more than twenty students and most of them were from the Archery Club as the Apocalypse descended when they were in the middle of training.
Cain looked through the cafeteria’s glass doors.
"Have you already cleared the building?"
"The area outside is clear," Nathan replied. "We were preparing to search the storage rooms when we noticed your group approaching."
"So the food is still inside?"
"Most likely."
Cain nodded.
"We’ll gather it together."
Nathan studied him.
"You’re inviting us to join your group?"
"Yes."
Cain pointed toward the direction of the auditorium.
"There are already enough people there to build a proper shelter."
Then he looked toward the delivery area.
"We’re also going to secure transportation."
Nathan’s expression changed slightly.
"You plan to leave the university?"
"As soon as we have enough vehicles and resources."
"Where are you going?"
"The Capital City." Cain answered without hesitation.
His hometown lay in that direction and he planned to stop by his hometown on their way there.
The Capital City would also have more military facilities and government resources than the surrounding areas.
Nathan immediately answered, "We’ll join you."
"Well, at least I do."
Cain nodded.
"Good."
He pointed toward the loading area.
"Your group will search for transportation, especially the university buses."
Cain then looked toward Elara, Ron and Jack.
"The three of you are going with them."
Nathan glanced at the three. He had already noticed the quality of Elara’s sword.
Ron looked less intimidating, but the way he moved revealed that his speed wasn’t to be underestimated.
Cain looked at Nathan.
"If you encounter something you can’t handle, retreat immediately and come back here."
Nathan nodded and raised his bow slightly.
"Don’t worry, we won’t take unnecessary risks."
The new team quickly departed.
Nathan moved near the front with an arrow already resting against his bowstring.
Cain watched them disappear behind the cafeteria before turning toward the remaining group.
He then turned toward the remaining students.
"We’ll gather food and anything useful inside."
As they were about to enter the building, Cain called out.
"Evelyne."
Maya stopped for a fraction of a second. Then she suddenly increased her pace.
She entered the cafeteria without looking back.
Evelyne remained outside, her face became red.
Cain looked at her.
"We have unfinished business."
Evelyne’s fingers tightened around the javelin.
She lowered her voice.
"Here?"
"No."
Cain glanced toward the rear of the cafeteria.
A thick area of greenery stood behind the building.
Large trees blocked the view from the plaza.
Bushes had grown around a narrow maintenance path, while the cafeteria wall concealed the area from anyone searching inside.
Cain then walked there leisurely.
Evelyne hesitated. The memory of her promise before leaving the auditorium returned.
She looked toward the cafeteria entrance.
Maya had already disappeared inside with the others.
Evelyne swallowed before following Cain. They walked around the side of the building.
The voices of the gathering team gradually faded behind them.
Cain stepped beneath the trees.
Evelyne entered the greenery after him.
After they stopped beneath a tree, Evelyne directly asked, "You really can do what you said, right?"
"About what? Upgrading your Talent and Skill?"
"Hmmm..." Evelyne nodded again, her expression serious despite the embarrassment burning in her cheeks.
Cain’s smile widened.
"You want me to upgrade your Talent and Skill? Suck my dick then."
The words hung in the air between them.
Evelyne’s face turned scarlet, but she did not immediately refuse.
Instead, she took a slow breath and answered.
"Alright. I’ll do it."
Cain’s smile froze.
"..."
’I never expected that she would immediately accept it.’ Cain thought to himself.
To be honest, even though he said that she needed to pay the price for it, he was just spouting nonsense when he needed to pay with her body right away.
Even though he had the idea of it, it would be after he had upgraded her talents and skills multiple times so that she would become dependent on him and couldn’t help to agree with his request by paying the price with her body.
He made such a request, mostly because she had bullied him and irritated him that he wanted to somehow take revenge on her.
He had never expected that she would immediately agree upon the price he just casually demanded.
Evelyne fidgeted with her hands, her voice becoming quieter.
"B-But I’ve never done it before."
"What?!" Cain exclaimed, his disbelief obvious.
"There’s no way you’ve never done it."
He stared at her voluptuous body, then back at her face.
"I thought you would’ve at least had sex with five men considering how lewd your body is."
Evelyne’s embarrassment instantly turned into anger. Her face flushed deeper, but this time from rage rather than shame.
"You!"
She stomped her foot against the ground.
"Nevermind! I don’t want to do it anymore!"
She turned to leave, but Cain’s hand shot out and grabbed her wrist.
"Wait, wait. I was just joking."
Cain pulled her back toward him, closing the distance between their bodies.
"I swear I was joking." He continued.
His tone softened slightly, though the teasing edge remained.
"It’s just that your body is such a top-tier body that it’s my first time seeing something this heavenly."
Evelyne’s anger faltered. Her breath came out unevenly as she found herself pressed against Cain’s chest.
The warmth of his body seeped through their clothes.
Evelyne looked up at him.
His face was much closer now, and for the first time, she noticed the sharpness of his features.
’He’s actually quite handsome when I look at him this closely.’ She thought to herself.
Cain’s eyes met hers.
Before either of them could speak, he leaned down and kissed her.
