Chapter 11: Identity Card
Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Identity Card
After what happened to him overnight, Eiros was in genuinely rough shape, and it had wrecked the quality of his sleep completely.
He woke up a little late, but he used that to his advantage, avoiding running into Erness that morning.
Luckily, he really didn’t run into her, which made him think he could finally relax, at least a little.
But did he really have time for that?
"Get yourselves ready. The first-semester exams are coming up at the end of the month."
That wasn’t exactly easy news.
’This soon...?’
Eiros clicked his tongue. If it was really the end of this month, that meant he had less than two weeks to get himself prepared.
As someone enrolled in the Other class, saddled with a Stigmata too obscure to even identify, he had absolutely no ability that could help him fight for a decent rank.
At the same time, Eiros really needed to take rank seriously. Because the higher his rank, the more Soul Stones would get distributed to him.
But what could he possibly do to earn a high rank?
His thoughts drifted back to the webtoon, but there wasn’t a single useful scrap of information in those thirty Chapters.
"Professor... could you tell us what the exam will actually be like?"
One student raised his hand and asked. But the Professor just shrugged both shoulders, looking thoroughly unbothered.
"Well, that’s a secret, okay?"
Some students looked excited, but plenty of others looked just as nervous and pale as Eiros.
None of them could have ever guessed that, by the end of their second month living at this academy, they’d be thrown straight into first-semester exams.
The schedule was brutally tight, especially for Eiros, who’d only been here for two days.
This was basically hell.
In the end, he spent the rest of his time without a single moment of peace.
Unlike the day before, where Eiros had studied indoors, today was different, since their Professor, Liam, took them outside while explaining what today’s lesson would actually be.
"Your task today isn’t any different from usual. It’s about trying to understand your own Stigmata. As you all know, you were placed in the Other class precisely because your Stigmata don’t match any recognized type, and aren’t recorded in the known Stigmata registry. That’s exactly why you need to work at understanding what type yours actually is, before you can eventually be transferred to the appropriate class."
Given that a single Stigmata sometimes ended up belonging to multiple people at once, the academy and the Empire kept records of every registered Stigmata, so they could figure out how to properly guide anyone who might inherit it in the future.
But of course, given just how vast the mysteries of this world were, Stigmata kept evolving without end. There were plenty of types still undiscovered, and Eiros’s own, along with those belonging to the rest of the Other class kids, fell into that category.
Out on the academy grounds, where Eiros and the others stood lined up across a stretch of green grass surrounded by dense forest, ignoring the blazing sun overhead, Professor Liam stood in the shade of a large tree, watching his students roast under the sun with obvious amusement.
He chuckled softly, ignoring their irritated expressions.
"Alright, you can start now. Don’t bother asking why we’re doing this outdoors—it’s just in case one of you happens to have some destructive power. Ah, and morning sunlight is good for your skin too."
That last line came from someone clearly avoiding the sun entirely himself.
With a collective sigh, most of the students turned their focus to their own business. Eiros studied them one by one—each Stigmata left a mark somewhere on the body, blending naturally into the skin tone.
But the moment that power got used, the mark would light up in a beautiful silver glow.
Like Leiden, standing nearby.
Right on the student’s forehead, a silver light bloomed, forming a tattoo-like pattern. Not far from him, there was also a woman whose Stigmata mark sat on her arm, with a few more scattered in hidden places.
As for Eiros himself.
He tried to focus on his own Stigmata, located on his shoulder. Using Soul Essence to activate it, he could feel a silvery glow pushing faintly through the fabric of his academy uniform.
But no matter how hard he tried to understand or do anything with his Stigmata, he couldn’t feel any connection to it beyond just his Soul Essence sitting there.

Then, the system appeared before him, explaining exactly why his ability was so hard to grasp and impossible to use.
’Ah... an Identity Card? Where am I supposed to even find something like that?’
Unfortunately, nothing came to mind. He had no idea where to find such a card, but it clearly mattered a great deal, so he hoped he’d manage to find at least one, and soon.
Right then, Eiros felt the air seem to shift around him. Snow began falling from the sky, and the atmosphere turned bitterly cold. The other students noticed it too, including Professor Liam, whose gaze fixed on one particular direction.
There, a girl stood with her eyes closed. Unlike the rest of the surroundings, which remained fairly ordinary, the ground beneath her feet had turned into fully frozen grass.
Her hair, a pale blue nearly silver in color, fell just past her shoulders, trembling faintly in the breeze. On the right side of her neck sat her Stigmata mark, bearing a distinctly unusual design.
It was a fusion between a yeti’s head and a deer’s, with small round elements falling around it like rain.
Eiros had already guessed as much. He didn’t know if his guess was right, but he figured this girl might also be one of the characters who played a significant role in the story.
Looking at her striking appearance and her face, flawless like a porcelain doll, she was practically built to be a character readers would adore.
The girl opened her eyes. Flickers of silver and pale blue light danced in her pupils as she raised her hand, staring down at her own palm.
"Well done, Renee. That’s clearly a combat-type. You’ve managed to grasp your Stigmata beautifully, giving us a clear picture of both your ability and your mark’s design."
Professor Liam nodded, genuinely impressed.
"Of course, this still can’t be officially confirmed just yet. Because of that, you’ll stay in the Other class until we can arrange a separate test for you. Well, until then, make sure you keep training hard."
The girl, Renee, gave a small smile as she nodded and bowed her head slightly.
"Yes, Professor. Thank you."
Professor Liam nodded, then glanced around at the rest of the group.
"What are you all staring at? Get back to training yours too. Doesn’t it motivate you at all, watching a classmate smaller than most of you pull it off first?"
His careless remark didn’t land well with anyone. But he was a professor—which student was going to talk back to him?
If anything, he said it precisely because he knew none of them could actually do anything about it.
Eiros let out a sigh. He himself had no idea what to do, seeing as he’d probably never be able to awaken his Stigmata properly, since it apparently needed something very specific.
That was when he sensed a faint, broken kind of energy nearby. It came from beside him—from Leiden, who was still deep in concentration.
Sparks of red electricity flickered across his body. But just as it looked like it might actually amount to something, Leiden’s eyes flew open, and his face twisted in obvious pain.
"Guahg?!"
He let out a hard, forceful exhale, then gasped for breath.
"Ah, damn it... And it felt like I was so close, too."
Leiden wiped at the corner of his mouth.
Meanwhile, Eiros stared at him in silence.
’What was that? What just happened?’
It caught him more than a little off guard.
