Chapter 19: A Scumbag 2
Chapter 19: A Scumbag 2
There was a grieve scilence in the hall, all the noises muffled into nothing.. Kai stared. For several seconds he didn’t process the words. Then he did. His face went completely blank. Elias mistook that silence for hesitation.
"Name your price."
Kai’s eye twitched.
"I don’t mind paying. In fact, I’ll pay whatever you want."
Kai slowly inhaled.
"Are you mentally defective?"
Elias laughed.
"That’s a new one."
"I don’t care."
Kai turned away. Elias caught up.
"Wait."
"No."
"You haven’t given me a price."
"I’m not interested."
"I can make it worth your while."
"Go away."
"You’re too beautiful to waste."
Kai stopped. His expression changed. There it was. That word. Beautiful. Again. He had heard it too many times since coming to this world. He hated it. Not because it wasn’t true, but because people always seemed to think his appearance gave them the right to approach him. To touch him, to want things from him. Kai turned around. His voice was cold.
"I said no."Elias’s smile didn’t disappear. But something in his eyes changed. Interest, Amusement, Lust. Kai saw all of it. The yman was disgusting. Kai stepped closer.
"Do you understand the word no?"
"Perfectly."
"Then leave me alone."
"No."
Kai stared. The answer was so casual that he almost laughed.
Instead, his hand curled into a fist. The new strength inside him stirred. Elias noticed. His smile widened.
"Oh?"
"You really want to keep doing this?"
"Very much."
Kai took one step forward. Elias didn’t move. His patience finally snapped.
"Fine. Then I’ll make you leave."Elias’s smile became almost delighted. Kai activated Infinite Strength and punched him. The impact exploded through the Guild. BOOM! Elias’s body flew backward. The entire room fell silent. Kai stared at his extended fist, eyes wide. He hadn’t expected that. Elias crashed into a table. Splinters of Wood flew everywhere. Several Adventurers jumped to their feet. Someone shouted. Kai slowly lowered his fist.
"...Oops."
For a second there was complete silence. Then Elias stood. Kai froze. The man dusted off his clothes. He looked completely unharmed. Elias looked at him and smiled. A slow, delighted smile. Kai’s instincts screamed. Elias laughed.
"That was interesting."
Kai’s expression darkened. He clenched his fist again.
"Stay away from me."
"Make me."
Kai’s eye twitched. Fine. If that’s what he wanted. Kai rushed forward and swung. Elias didn’t dodge. BOOM! Kai hit him. Again. And again. And again. The Guild erupted into chaos. People shouted. Tables moved. Someone screamed about property damage. Kai didn’t care. For the first time since obtaining Infinite Strength, he was finally testing what it could do. And Elias just kept getting back up. Every single time. Smiling. Kai’s frustration grew.
"Why aren’t you fighting back?!"
Elias wiped a tiny trace of blood from the corner of his mouth. His smile widened.
"Why would I?"
Kai stared. Elias’s eyes remained fixed on him.
"You’re adorable when you’re angry."
Kai’s face went blank. Then his expression twisted with pure fury.
"I’ll kill you."
Elias laughed. Kai attacked again. This time Elias finally decided to stop playing. Kai’s fist flew toward his face, but it never reached him. Elias moved. Fast.
Kai’s eyes widened as his fist stopped. Elias had caught it with one hand. He froze.
Elias’s grip tightened. Kai tried to pull away. Nothing. His expression changed. Elias reached forward and caught Kai’s second wrist with his other hand. Both of Kai’s hands were now trapped. His eyes widened. He struggled hard. Nothing.
Elias didn’t move. Not even slightly. Kai’s heart dropped. The difference in strength was obvious now. The entire time, Elias had been allowing it. Kai’s face darkened. Elias stepped forward. Kai stepped back, the process repeated Until his back struck the wall. Thud. Kai’s hands were still held together. Elias leaned closer, his face only inches away. That infuriating smile returned. Kai glared at him.
"Let go."
Elias didn’t. Instead, he looked directly into Kai’s eyes.
"See how I can overpower you immediately?"
Kai’s expression became murderous. Elias’s grin widened.
"Come to me."
Kai’s eyes widened. The bastard actually had the audacity to say that after everything. Kai struggled violently.
"Let go!"
Still nothing. Elias was far stronger. Kai’s new strength was powerful. Incredibly powerful. But against an S-Rank Assassin with years of experience? It wasn’t enough. Not yet. Kai gritted his teeth, twisted his body, and pushed with everything he had. The skill responded. For one brief moment, Elias’s grip loosened. Kai ripped his hands free, immediately shoved Elias away, and stepped back. His face was burning with fury.
"You’re disgusting."
Elias only smiled. Kai turned around. He was done. Completely done. He stormed toward the exit. He didn’t care about the Guild. He didn’t care about the broken furniture. He didn’t care about the stunned faces surrounding him.
He only wanted to get away from that bastard. Behind him, Elias watched. Kai’s hood had fallen back into place. His beautiful face disappeared into shadow. But Elias had already seen it. He wouldn’t forget it. He leaned against the wall. A slow smile spread across his face. Kai had hit him. Repeatedly. Called him disgusting. And then escaped.
Elias found himself laughing. He had encountered countless people in his life. Beautiful people. Powerful people. Interesting people. But never someone quite like Kai. His eyes remained fixed on the door Kai had disappeared through.
"Interesting. Very interesting."
Outside the Guild, Kai marched down the street. His hands still tingled from the struggle. His face was still burning. His anger hadn’t diminished. If anything, it was growing. Kai clenched his fists.
"That bastard."
He stopped. His eyes narrowed.
"That fucking bastard."
He continued walking. He had only been an adventurer for a short time, and already he had acquired an S-Rank problem. Kai looked toward the sky.
"Why me?"
There was a brief silence. Then the System answered.
[You appear to have a tendency to attract troublesome individuals.]
Kai stopped walking. His eye twitched.
"Not now."
[Understood.]
