Chapter 8: Envelope
Chapter 8: Envelope
[Ding! The Body Gamble Shop has been unlocked!]
Kian entered the en-suite bathroom and fell into the bathtub with a groan. Then, he opened the system screen with interest.
[The Shop has been unlocked due to you having resources to use it.]
[You have successfully absorbed some Vital Yin by having intercourse with a virgin lady. Buy their Body Box and Unlock Unique Skills.]
[Virgin Yin available: Jiao Yin]
There was a button beside it: [Convert into a Body Box].
Kian blinked in confusion, then clicked the Body Box button curiously.
[Ding]
The screen exploded with golden fireworks, shimmering letters cascading across the interface like falling stars.
[Congratulations! First Virgin Yin Converted!]
The system announced in bold, celebratory text, accompanied by a triumphant fanfare that seemed to echo directly in his mind. The words "BODY BOX ACQUIRED" pulsed with a warm, radiant glow before fading into a neat icon of a beautifully ornate chest, its surface inlaid with jade and silver filigree.
Kian stared at the screen, a grin spreading across his tired face.
[A body box is the Karmic Hex between you and the owner of the Vital Yin. Based on the unlocked Karmic Hex in the chest, you can gain body box abilities]
[There are 7 ranks of abilities: Black, Grey, Silver, White, Gold, Rainbow, and Immortal Purple. The rank of ability you unlock is based on the depth of the Karmic Hex.]
’Interesting,’ Kian thought.
Then, he rubbed his hands eagerly and clicked the open button on the Body Box section.
The chest burst open with a cascade of ethereal light, swirling around him in shades of silver and white before coalescing into a floating screen.
The system screen shimmered.
[You have only met Jiao Yin a day ago, but she felt destined to be your servant the moment you called upon her. A past memory of her mother still echoes within the girl: An immortal will come, she had said, and will heal her illnesses. She is hoping to suck you off and dedicate her life to you in return for salvation. You truly are a hero.]
[Karmic Hex: Sucking Hero!]
[Ding! Congratulations! You have unlocked a Black Rank Ability: Sucking Hero.]
Black lines appeared all over Kian’s face.
The system showed the ability’s description.
[Black Rank Ability: Sucking Hero]
[The women who has taken your member into their mouth become marked with an invisible Hero’s Sigil, branding them as your Heroic Vessels. Once per day, you can use any innate abilities that your Vessels posses.]
Kian smirked, the black lines fading from his face as he read the fine print—only one use per day total, shared across all marked women, but the implications were already spinning through his head like a gambling wheel.
’This ability is already crazy. I can get even more abilities by gathering more Vital Yin? Wow.’
And this ability was only the weakest, Black Grade.
Kian sat up in the bath, water sloshing around his waist as he stared at the system screen with bright eyes.
...
Done with the bath, Kian walked into the silent living room where Hua Mia was serving breakfast. Hua Jia sat to the side along with Jiao Yin, who was eating meatbuns.
Kian looked at Jiao Yin curiously. Wasn’t she eating his meat with that same mouth a few mins ago?
"Ah, Kian, you took a bath?" Hua Mia asked, putting a bowl of steaming eggs on the table.
"Yes I did."
Hua Jia observed them keenly.
Hua Mia smiled at Kian and stood behind him, her hand on his hair. Her little sister’s glare became even more keen.
"What magic did you put in my sister?" she asked.
"Well, well, I wonder," Kian said. "Ask her why don’t you!"
Hua Mia smiled. "Yeah, there is no reason to antagonize Kian, Jia. He didn’t do anything yesterday. He was such a gentleman."
Jiao Yin’s eyes widened. "No way!"
"Yeah," Hua Jia said. "Even this dumb girl knows you are lying."
Hua Mia shrugged, hugging Kian’s neck. "Believe me or not. We were just hugging and talking yesterday. Nothing more than that. Right, Kian?"
"Kissing too, to be hon--Ouch. What’s that for?"
Mia blushed red. "Stop that."
Kian chuckled. "Sure!"
He took an egg and began...
That was when it happened.
An envelope flew in through their house’s doors and moved towards the table. All eyes focused on it immediately.
The envelope was plain white, unmarked except for a single crimson seal stamped with a coiled serpent—the emblem of the Shulong Clan. It landed with a soft thud on the wooden table, spinning once before settling between the plates of steaming eggs and meatbuns.
The envelope trembled for a moment, then unfolded itself as a ghostly silver light spilled from its seams. A feminine voice crackled through the room, sharp and commanding like a winter gale. "Hua Mia. Hua Jia. I hear rumors that you are lodging with some stranger—a boy. This is an insult to your brother’s standing in the sect and to this family’s name. I demand this arrangement be vetoed immediately. If I hear that either of you have been soiled by some nameless cultivator’s touch, I will have him stripped of his cultivation and cast out of the sect myself. I expect your obedience."
The voice faded into a cold silence. Hua Jia’s chopsticks clattered against her bowl. Jiao Yin froze mid-bite, her meatbun dangling from her lips. Hua Mia’s face went pale, her grip tightening on Kian’s shoulders as the echo of her mother’s words hung in the air.
"What is this?" Jiao Yin asked.
"This is a Song Letter. You can send audio messages within the sect to anyone. It’s quite expensive," said Hua Mia.
"She finally cares now?" Hua Jia cursed.
Meanwhile, Mia and Kian exchanged glances.
"This is a threat to you," Hua Mia said. "She learned someone is taking us in, and is now threatening you to protect us."
"Humph! She is just acting for her own reputation!" Hua Jia said.
Kian shook his head. "You don’t know your mother, I guess. She is sacrificing herself."
"...Indeed," Hua Mia said. "What do we do, Kian? Do you really..."
"Don’t worry, we’ll do something. If I can’t do it, I’ll ask for help."
She breathed a sigh of relief.
"Anyway, Mia, does this threat mean I can’t kiss you anymore?" Kian asked with a blink.
Mia nodded with a smile. "Yes. She is protecting me from dangerous men like you. You better stop your shena--"
Hua Jia’s eyes went wide as saucers, her face flushing crimson as Kian’s arms wrapped around her and pulled her close before she could react.
"Wha—mmph!" Her protest was swallowed by his lips pressing firmly against hers, her body stiffening in shock as her sister’s surprised shout rang out behind them.
For a moment she remained frozen, but the warmth of his mouth and the gentle pressure of his tongue tracing her lower lip sent a shiver down her spine, her hands rising instinctively to push against his chest—though the push was weak, half-hearted, more of a suggestion than a rejection.
For a cultivator like him, it was a task of finesse.
Hua Jia watched the scene with open mouth.
Pushing him away, Mia blushed and said: "Stop! Stop! She is just protecting me. As long as it’s with my consent, it’s okay. Don’t worry, stop!"
Kian looked at her, then let go.
She snorted and escaped his grasp, glaring at him.
As he watched her, Kian wondered.
What does it mean to steal a person from someone else?
Unlike yesterday, Hua Mia was so much more comfortable around him today. She was already treating him as someone close to her consciously or otherwise. What had really changed?
The answer seemed simple.
She valued him more than she valued her connection to her brother. Thus, essentially, he had stolen Mia for himself.
Kian licked his lips and looked at Hua Jia who was gawking at them.
He asked: "You want a kiss as well?"
