Chapter 11: Chapter 11: The Black Sky of Sector 2

The rain falling over Sector 2 didn’t touch the pavement anymore.

The moment Renan stepped onto the grand marble steps outside the ruined Gilded Vault Bank, the raindrops froze in mid-air, suspended by an invisible, oppressive weight that flattened the surrounding fog against the asphalt.

The sky above the financial district—once filled with neon-lit billboards and hovering news drones—turned completely pitch-black. A thick dome of dark violet shadow energy expanded outward in a hundred-meter radius, swallowing the streetlights, the floodlights, and the very ambient light of the city whole.

[Skill Activated: Monarch’s Domain (Rank-S)] [Domain Area Established: 100 Meters.] [Enemy Stats Suppressed by 30%!] [Shadow Puppets Stat Boosted by 50%!]

Across the perimeter, thirty armored vehicles belonging to the National Hunter Association’s Special Task Force rocked violently on their suspensions as the atmospheric pressure inside the domain spiked by three hundred percent.

"A-A Domain Expansion Skill?!" Director Vance—a white-haired S-Rank battle-mage leading the Association’s front line—stumbled backward against his command vehicle, clutching his chest. "My mana circuit... it feels like it’s being submerged in solid lead!"

Beside him, Director General Kael, a tall S-Rank swordsman with a heavy broadsword strapped to his back, gritted his teeth as a crimson system warning panel flashed inside his optical visor.

"WARNING: Physical Attributes Reduced by 30%. Agility Reduced by 30%. Spiritual Pressure: Lethal."

"This is impossible..." Kael growled, his knuckles turning white around the hilt of his broadsword. "He’s just an unranked porter! How can a single human generate a Domain Skill large enough to suppress three S-Rank Directors and two hundred elite Association guards?!"

The third S-Rank Director, a stern woman named Helen who commanded the heavy mana-artillery division, raised her hand frantically into the air.

"All units! Fire immediately! Don’t let him compress the domain any further! Open fire with Tier-S Mana Cannons!" Helen screamed into her communicator, her voice cracking with raw, unadulterated panic.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Six heavy, truck-mounted mana-cannons lined up across the plaza detonated simultaneously. Six massive beams of compressed blue plasma—each capable of vaporizing a mountain bunker—shot through the rain-slicked dark, tearing straight toward Renan’s position on the bank steps.

Renan didn’t move an inch. He didn’t even draw a blade.

He stood casually at the top of the stairs, his dark coat fluttering in the violent shockwave. He simply raised his left hand, spreading his fingers wide.

"Monarch’s Shield," Renan whispered.

CRACK-LE!

Behind him, the ten Shadow Knights—their physical stats boosted by 50% under the Monarch’s Domain—stepped forward in unison. Their midnight-black armor radiated a blinding violet light as their shadow barriers fused together, forming a massive, three-story-tall obsidian shield in front of the bank entrance.

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!

The six Tier-S plasma beams slammed into the obsidian barrier. Blinding white explosions illuminated the dark dome, melting the concrete street below into liquid glass and blowing away every parked vehicle within fifty yards.

The smoke rolled across the plaza in dense, suffocating sheets.

Inside the command vehicle, Director Helen wiped sweat from her eyes, squinting through the rising dust. "Did... did we get him? Did the mana cannons vaporize him?!"

"Look up!" Director General Kael barked, his face draining of all color as he pointed a trembling finger toward the top of the bank.

Standing untouched on the high roof of the Gilded Vault Bank—thirty yards above the burning crater left by the mana cannons—was Renan.

His glowing purple eyes locked onto the three S-Rank Directors standing amidst their panicked army.

"Your artillery is weak," Renan’s voice echoed across the pitch-black dome, amplified by his new [2,750 Mana] stat density. It sounded like stone grinding on stone, vibrating straight into the bone marrow of every guard present. "Is this the best the National Hunter Association can offer to protect Richard’s corrupt empire?"

"Insolent brat!" Director Kael roared, his pride as the Association’s top swordsman snapping under the humiliation.

Kael kicked off the ground, his body blurring into a streak of golden light as he activated his ultimate movement skill: [S-Rank Skill: Heavenly Flash Step]. In less than a millisecond, Kael crossed the fifty-meter distance, appearing directly above Renan with his massive broadsword held high in a two-handed execution strike.

"Die, you arrogant demon! [Heavenly Mountain Splitter]!" Kael screamed, his broadsword erupting in a blinding hundred-foot wave of golden holy fire that cleaved the stormy clouds in two.

Renan didn’t dodge. He didn’t even raise a shield.

He raised his right arm, extending two fingers—his index and middle finger—straight into the path of the descending hundred-foot golden blade.

CLANG!

The sonic shockwave shattered every window within three blocks.

Director Kael’s jaw dropped so low it nearly unhinged.

The holy golden wave of energy vanished instantly upon impact. His legendary S-Rank broadsword—a weapon forged from the core of a Tier-S Dragon and valued at over eighty million credits—was stopped dead in mid-air.

Caught firmly between Renan’s two bare fingers.

[Strength Check:] [Renan: 1,500] [Kael (Suppressed by Domain): 630] [Strength Disparity: Absolute.]

"Your blade lacks weight, Director," Renan said softly, his purple eyes glowing inches from Kael’s terrified face.

"M-My full-power S-Rank strike... stopped with two fingers?!" Kael stammered, his arms trembling violently as he tried to pull his sword back, but Renan’s fingers held the steel like an impenetrable titanium vise. "What... what kind of monster are you?!"

Renan didn’t answer. He twisted his fingers.

CRACK-SHATTER!

The eighty-million-credit legendary dragon broadsword snapped into dozens of jagged metallic shards like cheap glass.

Before Kael could even process the destruction of his ultimate weapon, Renan’s left hand shot out like a striking cobra, grabbing Kael by his throat and slamming him face-first into the concrete roof of the bank.

BOOM!

The reinforced concrete roof cratered inward three feet. Kael’s face crumpled under the impact, blood spraying across the stone as his limbs twitched helplessly under Renan’s suffocating grip.

"KAEL!" Director Vance and Director Helen screamed simultaneously from the plaza below.

"Two hundred guards, six plasma cannons, and three S-Rank Directors," Renan whispered, stepping onto Kael’s broken back as he looked down at the horrified army below.

He raised his right palm, opening his System menu as dark violet lightning began to swirl around his fingertips.

"You didn’t come here to arrest me," Renan said, his voice cold, mechanical, and utterly devoid of mercy. "You came to deliver thirty new shadow soldiers to my doorstep."

DING!

A massive, crimson system window flared over the entire pitch-black sky of Sector 2:

[Skill Activated: Shadow Puppet Creation (Rank-S)] [Domain Synergized: Mass Shadow Extraction Enabled!] [Targeting: 200 Elite Association Guard Corpses & Weakened Hunters.]

From the shadows beneath the feet of all two hundred elite Association guards standing in the plaza, pitch-black tendrils sprouted simultaneously, dragging their shrieking bodies down into the floor as their living shadows peeled off the concrete to bow before Renan.
