Apocalypse: I Can See Health Bars
Chapter 36: A Spear Like a Dragon

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: A Spear Like a Dragon

The zombie seemed to have been drawn by the faint sound of the window opening. As it turned its head, Lin Fan held his breath in suspense.

It wasn’t that he was afraid of this one zombie; he was worried about the effectiveness of the Invisibility Crystal.

After all, based on Lin Fan’s experience, from a distance of about ten meters, a zombie could charge over in less than two seconds the moment he opened the window...

If it slammed into the security bars with a loud CRASH, the noise would attract more zombies, and the horde that had just begun to disperse would gather at his storefront once again...

Lin Fan suspected that a hundred-odd zombies could probably claw right through his roll-down shutter door.

But none of that happened.

The Invisibility Crystal was surprisingly effective. At first, when Lin Fan was a little nervous, the zombie seemed to have caught a scent. It took a few steps in his direction, looking left and right.

But as Lin Fan gradually calmed himself, the zombie soon forgot its target and turned to wander off elsewhere.

Seeing this, Lin Fan reached out and gently tapped the security bars outside the window.

After a few soft taps, growing louder each time, another zombie finally heard the sound and was drawn over.

But it wasn’t because it saw Lin Fan; it was attracted by the sound. So it didn’t go berserk, merely shambling over slowly.

Meanwhile, Lin Fan was silently gauging the distance...

’Ten meters... eight meters... six... five...’

Not until it was nearly three meters away did the zombie obviously smell something and begin to grow agitated. By the time it reached the two-meter mark, it was as if it had suddenly spotted its prey, and it lunged violently at the window!

PFFT!

[-300]!

Before the zombie could crash into the security bars, Lin Fan gripped the iron rod with one hand and thrust it swiftly out between them.

The sharp rod instantly pierced the zombie’s eye socket and shot straight out the back of its head, taking a spray of grayish-white pulp with it!

An instant kill!

And Lin Fan’s health bar increased to [200/200]!

He shook the zombie’s corpse off to the side, slowly retracted his short spear back inside, and closed the window.

’No problem. The Invisibility Crystal really can hide me from the zombies’ sight.’

’The detection range is about three meters, and complete discovery is at about two.’

’It works even better than I imagined!’

What’s more, after his health bar increased to 200, Lin Fan could clearly feel his physical strength jump up another level!

Previously, swinging the eight-pound short spear with one hand had put some strain on his wrist.

But now, it felt like an extension of his own arm, moving with perfect freedom!

Lin Fan returned to the third floor, readied a rope, and tossed it down from the living room window.

He shouldered the backpack he had prepared earlier with rations and water.

He then secured a dagger from Room 601, a handaxe from Room 401, and his own short spear to the special belt Su Qing had made, fully equipping himself.

Finally, he holstered the long spear on his back, picked up a tin can, and hurled it hard at a row of cars down the street!

CRASH!

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The "lucky" car he hit let out a blaring alarm. The zombies downstairs jolted at the sound and charged toward the source of the noise!

Seeing the zombies below being drawn away, Lin Fan said a few words of instruction to Su Qing and bid her farewell. He nimbly climbed out the window. Under Su Qing’s reluctant gaze, he gripped the rope with both hands and walked his feet down the wall, descending to the ground below.

Once he reached the end of the rope, he let go and landed lightly on the ground.

Taking the long spear from his back, Lin Fan cautiously crossed the street.

Su Qing stood at the window, anxiously watching Lin Fan below. She didn’t know about his stealth Superpower; she just assumed he was using sound to lure the zombies away while he himself danced on a knife’s edge. She couldn’t help but grip her binoculars tightly in nervousness.

...

Lin Fan skirted the horde of zombies swarming the small car. Worried that running might interfere with his stealth, he could only walk slowly, heading east along the southern sidewalk toward the intersection.

About five minutes later, the alarm abruptly stopped. It was unclear whether the zombies had torn out the wiring or the car battery had simply died.

But by this time, Lin Fan was already waiting on the east side of the horde.

When the sound died and the horde lost its target again, Lin Fan reached into his pocket and pulled out a large nut.

His pockets were filled with small metal chunks he had collected from the various apartments, specifically for throwing at cars.

He wound up, and with a WHOOSH, the nut flew straight toward the window of an SUV across the street, propelled by his astonishing strength!

CRACK!

WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO!

The noisy alarm blared to life again, and the zombie horde, which had just started to disperse, charged toward this car to the east!

And Lin Fan, seizing the opportunity, circled around the horde from the opposite side of the street and continued moving east.

He walked on and soon arrived at the entrance of the small supermarket where the other survivors had been gathering supplies yesterday.

The body of their leader was gone. It was impossible to know if he’d been completely devoured or had turned into a zombie and joined the horde.

Only a dark, blackish bloodstain remained in the middle of the road.

’Those people... they must have come from this building...’

’The car alarm is so loud, if anyone’s here, they definitely heard it...’

Just as Lin Fan was scanning the windows of that building, searching for any sign of survivors, the sound of shattering glass suddenly erupted behind him!

Two zombies burst through a storefront window, charging out from a shop right beside Lin Fan!

The zombies had originally been drawn by the noise, but the moment they crashed through the glass, they found themselves within three meters of Lin Fan. They immediately spotted the prey right in front of them and switched targets!

They lunged for Lin Fan!

Su Qing had already lost sight of Lin Fan in her binoculars, but the moment these two zombies moved, he abruptly reappeared in her field of view. So she, too, witnessed the perilous scene. Her eyes widened in terror, and she slammed a hand on the windowsill, wishing she could jump down and help Lin Fan block the two zombies herself!

But in the next moment, she realized that even though she had already accepted that Lin Fan was very strong, seeing this scene through her binoculars made her understand her assessment of him had been far too conservative.

As if he had been prepared all along, the very instant the glass shattered, Lin Fan gripped his long spear with both hands, raised it over his head, and spun it once to build momentum before lunging and turning!

He put his entire upper body into the swing, whirling the spear’s shaft in a blurry arc and bringing it down hard on the first zombie’s head!

This was also the first time Lin Fan had chosen to attack with brute force!

The same Lin Fan who had been muttering yesterday that the leader should have stabbed, chose to smash in his first battle after leaving the store!

Su Qing watched in disbelief, but she immediately saw a result completely different from yesterday!

Faced with a galvanized steel pipe weighing more than ten pounds and swinging in a blur, the zombie’s arms—capable of easily tearing a human body apart—were as fragile as two cucumbers.

The instant they made contact, flesh and bone were pulverized and sent flying into the air!

Followed by the entire upper half of the zombie’s skull!

[-300]!

A one-hit kill!

But it wasn’t over. After smashing the first zombie’s head for an instant kill, the spear’s momentum didn’t wane!

With a sharp pull and push from his rear hand, the long spear recoiled from its half-circle sweep and then shot forward!

Like a death-dealing dragon, it stabbed swiftly toward the second zombie’s head!

With his immense strength, Lin Fan no longer needed to bother with weak points. The spear struck the zombie right in the forehead!

He felt the spear halt in his hands, then a soft PFFT!

With a sickening CRACK, the zombie’s skullcap was sent flying!

Its body, carried by momentum, took two more steps forward before collapsing heavily in front of Lin Fan!

[-300]!

The second one!

Another one-hit kill!
