Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Level 2
Moira Lynch took out a transparent piggy bank to hold the Gold Beans. She had received it as a gift when she first purchased the gold.
The Gold Beans filled a full three and a half of the piggy banks before they finally stopped appearing.
Moira Lynch looked at the machine next to her, which was practically smoking. She touched it and almost burned a blister on her finger.
After putting the printer away, Moira Lynch glanced at the various gemstones she had collected today.
Besides jade, there were also agates, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and diamonds.
Once her spiritual power reached a high enough level, these gemstones should allow her to craft many different items.
She created a warehouse specifically for storing these gemstones.
Looking at the warehouse, which still seemed empty even after putting all the gemstones and Gold inside, she thought, ’Yup. I definitely prefer it when a warehouse is full.’
After exiting her space, Moira Lynch washed up and began to meditate, completely unaware of the massive uproar her actions had caused on the game forums.
[ThreeSpoons: SoySauceDrunkard, if you see this message, please contact me. I’m willing to give you a building in the capital. I have no other intentions, I just want to be friends.]
[Wallflower: @ the poster above, I can hear your scheming all the way from the other side of Caelus.]
[WatchingTheWindInTheSnow: Speaking of which, who the hell is this SoySauceDrunkard? First the interstellar machine, and now news about the next instance. Don’t tell me they’re a Myriad Stars spy sent to infiltrate Caelus.]
[ILoveHotpot: If that’s the case, that’s terrifying. I suggest the relevant authorities arrest this person immediately.]
[Hahahahaha: Maybe the reason Caelus is in this state is because of these aliens. Arrest them! They must be arrested!]
The game forums and the internet were ablaze with heated arguments over the matter. Since the sweltering heat kept people indoors, they could only vent their excess energy online.
In her room, Moira Lynch was meditating. Her breathing became long and deep, and her entire being seemed to merge with the night, having clearly entered a state of meditative trance.
Moira Lynch felt her spiritual power expand to its absolute limit, as if it were being constrained by a large net.
Her spiritual power rampaged within the net, attempting to break through its restraints.
「The next day.」
The six o’clock alarm rang right on time, and Moira Lynch slowly opened her eyes.
She had actually meditated for the entire night, and...
She got up and stretched her body. She felt no discomfort whatsoever, and none of the exhaustion that came from staying up all night.
Thinking about her experience last night, Moira Lynch’s gaze suddenly fell upon a table lamp on her nightstand.
She focused her concentration. After a good while, the lamp remained perfectly still. She then switched to a slightly lighter book, but that didn’t work either.
Finally, Moira Lynch took out a snow-white goose feather. This time, she succeeded in making the feather float in the air.
She recalled learning from the Learning Machine that once one’s spiritual power reached level two, they could perform telekinesis.
’It seems my feeling was right. That feeling of being constrained yesterday was a sign of a breakthrough.’
After breakfast, Moira Lynch didn’t start studying like she usually did.
Instead, she was clearing away some obstructing furniture in the living room, then brought out bags of nutrient-rich soil from her space and poured the soil into blue plastic crates.
Moira Lynch didn’t plant in all the blue plastic crates. She only took out five of them and chose a few easy-to-grow varieties to test the waters: potatoes, sweet potatoes, bok choy, cherry tomatoes, and lettuce.
If she succeeded, she would plant more at home.
She didn’t use only the nutrient-rich soil, either; she also dug up some soil from her space and mixed it in.
Only after she finished all this did she begin her studies for the day. Unlike usual, she now had to train her spiritual power at the same time. As for her training method...
Moira Lynch sat studiously at her computer, while on the desk, a white feather floated in mid-air. It first dipped itself in the nearby inkwell, then began to write on a sheet of white paper.
A while later, Moira Lynch looked at the results on the desk. This couldn’t be called writing; it was practically chicken scratch.
Fortunately, however, looking from the first page to the last, she could see a little bit of progress.
Moira Lynch wasn’t anxious about it. ’You have to take it one step at a time, just like learning to write as a kid. Doesn’t everyone start out with awful chicken scratch?’
In the afternoon, Moira Lynch went to her gym. She had already stored away all the fitness equipment, replacing it with a solid wood target and a Recurve Bow.
’Since I bought the Thousand Feather Bow, I naturally have to practice drawing and shooting it.’
She found a beginner’s archery tutorial online and started learning by following the instructor in the video.
After an entire afternoon, Moira Lynch stared at the pristine target and the arrows scattered all over the place. She couldn’t understand it. She was clearly aiming at the target, so why couldn’t she hit it?
Just then, her collection alarm rang, reminding her that it was time to go out.
Because of yesterday’s temperature increase, Moira Lynch had intentionally delayed her departure time by an hour. Although it was still very hot, it was much better than yesterday.
Arriving at an electric vehicle shop, Moira Lynch decisively bought out the store’s entire stock of over a dozen electric scooters of various models. While she was at it, she also bought seven or eight electric tricycles.
Just as she was about to leave after her purchases, Moira Lynch noticed the shop also had electric kick scooters and self-balancing scooters, so she decisively bought those as well.
「The next few days.」
Moira Lynch’s life was monotonous yet fulfilling. The good news was that her spiritual power and archery had both improved significantly. The bad news was that the temperature had risen again; the average daytime temperature had now reached sixty degrees.
People had now grown accustomed to being active at night, but even then, the temperature was still forty to nearly fifty degrees.
And thanks to Moira Lynch’s tip, many players had begun preparing for the next round of the game, which was just a few days away.
They might not necessarily be teleported to the Mocha Primeval Forest, but what if they were?
During this time, Moira Lynch sold another batch of food in exchange for a good amount of gold, silver, and various gemstones.
The quality of the jade she received, however, wasn’t great. But that was to be expected. The finest jade was in the hands of the wealthy, and the wealthy certainly weren’t short on food or drink. Naturally, they wouldn’t trade their high-quality jade for some animal organs.
Watching her warehouse gradually fill up, Moira Lynch experienced the joy of a dragon for the first time.
’A glittering mountain of gold like this... forget a dragon, who wouldn’t love it?’
According to the game system’s information, today was the start of the third round. Moira Lynch didn’t go out as usual, instead beginning her preparations early.
She washed her hair and tied it up in a bun, then put on a hat, a mask, camouflage clothing, and hiking boots.
In addition, she packed prepared food, weapons, medicine, and other potentially useful items into her Space Button.
This way, she could take things out directly when she needed them, avoiding any risk of exposing her personal space.
